Description

As a Senior Safety Advisor - Safety Management System (SMS), you will provide senior-level leadership and technical expertise to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety management systems across North American operations. This role is responsible for leading safety initiatives, managing key safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with stakeholders to strengthen the organization's safety culture.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in occupational safety, risk management, contractor safety, regulatory compliance, and safety program development within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or energy industries.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Safety Management System (SMS) programs, standards, and practices.
  • Manage and support safety initiatives related to contractor safety, business unit safety, and driving safety programs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety standards, procedures, training materials, and program documentation.
  • Identify program gaps and regulatory requirements while designing practical solutions to improve safety performance.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise in safety governance, risk management, Management of Change (MOC), and safe work practices.
  • Conduct program assessments, audits, and compliance reviews to ensure effectiveness and regulatory alignment.
  • Support internal and external audits and interact with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Deliver safety training, coaching, and operational support to leaders and field personnel.
  • Administer safety systems, tools, and databases while driving awareness and engagement.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen organizational safety culture and operational excellence.
