OverviewThe Senior Risk & Controls Transformation Advisor serves as a strategic thought partner to the business, driving the design, assessment, and modernization of enterprise controls in support of LoanCare’s goal to Make Strong Controls the Standard. This role proactively analyzes emerging risks, regulatory expectations, and industry trends to advise leadership on control enhancements, while independently evaluating control design and operating effectiveness. By partnering closely with risk owners and process experts, the advisor develops practical transformation roadmaps, strengthens preventative and detective controls, increases automation, and simplifies operational workflows.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic advisor by providing critical thought leadership in support of LoanCare’s enterprise goal to “Make Strong Controls the Standard” across the organization.
- Analyze emerging industry trends, regulatory expectations, and risk themes to proactively advise leadership on potential impacts and required control changes.
- Lead the assessment, redesign, and optimization of key operational controls, focusing on strengthening control design, reducing manual intervention, and increasing automation opportunities.
- Partner with risk owners and process SMEs to independently evaluate control effectiveness and identify practical improvements aligned with LoanCare’s strategic objectives.
- Develop transformation roadmaps, implementation recommendations, and supporting materials to enable adoption of enhanced controls across the business.
- Perform independent evaluations of control design and operating effectiveness, including walkthroughs, documentation review, test execution, and results analysis.
- Provide clear, defensible recommendations for remediating control weaknesses and enhancing preventative and detective measures.
- Identify emerging risks, systemic themes, and process vulnerabilities through ongoing analysis and engagement with business stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development, refinement, and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), ensuring they accurately reflect risk exposure and trends.
- Prepare senior-level reports, insights, and briefings for stakeholders, translating complex risk concepts into clear, actionable information.
- Engage with operational leaders to validate the feasibility of control enhancements and ensure alignment with business processes.
- Recommend opportunities to streamline processes, reduce handoffs, and eliminate unnecessary complexity within operational workflows.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 7+ years’ experience in risk management, operational risk, internal controls, or controls transformation within the financial services industry.
- 3+ years leading or driving controls/process transformation initiatives (control redesign, automation, standardization, reducing manual intervention)
- Demonstrated ability to perform independent evaluations of control design and operating effectiveness, including: walkthroughs, documentation review, test execution, and results analysis.
- Strong capability to produce clear, defensible remediation recommendations, including preventive vs. detective enhancements.
- Ability to partner with process SMEs and risk owners to identify practical improvements aligned to strategic goals.
- Experience identifying emerging risks, systemic themes, and process vulnerabilities through ongoing stakeholder engagement and analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and executive-ready materials.

Compensation Range: $103,000 - $193,100 annually. Actual compensation may vary within the range provided, depending on a number of factors, including qualifications, skills and experience.
