Senior Reliability Engineer - Mechanical, you will lead mechanical reliability strategy and improvement efforts for mission-critical cooling systems supporting OCI data centers. This role focuses on commissioning quality, maintenance optimization, root cause rigor, lifecycle planning, and technical support for complex or high-impact mechanical issues.
You will act as a senior individual contributor and trusted advisor to Site Operations, Design Engineering, Construction, Building Automation, and Reliability leadership on cooling system reliability, maintainability, and operational risk.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities- Lead reliability initiatives for critical mechanical systems including chilled water infrastructure, CRAH/CRAC systems, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, and associated controls.
- Review and influence commissioning, startup, and turnover quality to ensure mechanical systems are delivered in a supportable and operationally sound condition.
- Design and improve maintenance strategies that reduce downtime, improve operability, and optimize lifecycle cost.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action development for major or recurring mechanical failures.
- Analyze maintenance data, operating trends, and failure patterns to identify systemic issues and prioritize improvement actions.
- Develop risk mitigation plans for cooling-system vulnerabilities, latent failure points, obsolescence, and supportability concerns.
- Provide senior technical support to Site Operations during critical mechanical events and abnormal operating conditions.
- Evaluate construction submittals, design changes, and modified installations from a reliability and maintainability perspective.
- Support RAM analysis, lifecycle analysis, spare parts strategy, and site response planning for cooling systems.
- Mentor less experienced reliability engineers and guide technical problem solving across the mechanical specialty.
Ideal Candidate Profile- 6-10 years of experience in critical cooling, HVAC, mechanical reliability, commissioning, or uptime-critical infrastructure environments.
- Deep familiarity with cooling-system arrangements, component failures, automation interfaces, and larger system effects.
- Experience leading RCAs, maintenance optimization, and technical support in live mechanical plant environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience also valued.
Skills and Competencies- Strong systems thinking and technical judgment for mechanical infrastructure.
- Strong analytical capability using maintenance history, performance data, and failure trends.
- Ability to influence operational and design decisions without formal authority.
- Strong communication and mentoring capability.
- Ability to translate field issues into durable reliability improvements.
Preferred Skills / Certifications- Experience with large-scale cooling plants, mission-critical HVAC, and integrated facility controls.
- Familiarity with BMS analytics, asset health analysis, and lifecycle planning.
- ASHRAE credentials, HVAC certifications, or equivalent advanced technical training are a plus.
- CMRP, CRE, or other reliability certification is a plus.
Physical Demands / Work Environment This role supports mission-critical sites and may require travel, site walks, field observations, and operational support in industrial environments. You must be able to work safely in active facilities, with or without reasonable accommodation. Source roles also note travel up to 25% and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
QualificationsUS: Hiring Range in USD from: $126,200 to $264,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
