Full Job Description
Senior Radiation Effects Engineer

The Electrical Engineering team at Logos Space work on the design, development, flight validation, assembly, integration, test, and inflight success of the logos fleet of spacecraft. Electrical Engineering is responsible for ensuring that flight avionics on the logos bus and payload are fully validated ensuring the success of our network via analysis and test. The development of suitable facilities and the required ground support equipment also falls within the purview of the electrical engineering team. Electrical engineers will support hardware design activities from the idea stage to flight.

You should be prepared to work and thrive in a fast moving environment where you are comfortable taking vague design ideas and turning them into tangible hardware ready for test and flight. We are seeking engineers who love to solve hard problems.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the overall spacecraft radiation hardness assurance plan
  • Responsible for planning and carrying out component and system level radiation tests
  • Support multi-functional teams with recommendations for radiation mitigation through design and/or test
  • Responsible for defining test setups and standards for TID/SEE screening
  • Generate and release technical drawings, specifications, test procedures, and reports in support of the hardware design and validation.
Basic Qualifications

Education
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with relevant radiation effects work experience

Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in radiation effects
  • 3+ years experience with space environment modeling software (i.e. SPENVIS, OMERE, FASTRAD)
  • Experience working with commercial radiation test facilities to define test flows/setup
  • Proficiency with various radiation hardness strategies by design (i.e. EDAC, watchdog, shielding)
  • Proficiency with reliability/risk analysis associated with radiation specific failure modes
  • Experience with test hardware (oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
  • Proven track record of working with electrical hardware systems through the entire product life cycle
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

Education
  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with relevant radiation effects work experience

Experience
  • Professional experience with PCB design software packages such as Altium, Cadence, or KiCad
  • Experience with radiation susceptibilities unique to RF systems
  • Familiarity with radiation test standards (i.e. MIL-STD-750/883)
  • Familiarity with parts derating standards such EEE-INST-002 and ECSS-Q-ST-30-11C
  • Knowledge of automation/scripting software such as Python and MATLAB
  • Ability and willingness to attain a Top Secret Clearance
