Full Job Description
Build the processes, tooling, and quality infrastructure that takes Fleetzero hardware from bench builds to production-ready assembly lines.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will own the intersection of quality and manufacturing engineering for battery module and BMS assembly. That means developing and qualifying assembly processes, writing work instructions and inspection criteria, and driving continuous improvement across the line. You will define what 'good' looks like for every assembly step - from incoming piece part inspection through end-of-line functional test.

This is a hands-on role. You will be on the floor developing tooling, troubleshooting process escapes, and running experiments alongside the assembly team. The right person has a bias for building systems that make quality repeatable and visible, and does not wait to be told what to inspect.

$100,000 - $150,000 a year

WHAT YOU'LL OWN
  • Process qualification for all assembly operations: weld quality, fastener torque, sealing/leak testing, harness routing, and module final assembly
  • Incoming piece part inspection program: defining acceptance criteria, inspection methods, and sampling plans for all purchased components
  • In-line quality checkpoints: developing and maintaining inspection records, checklists, and non-conformance workflows
  • End-of-line functional test support: working with electrical engineering to ensure test criteria are well-defined and test processes are executable by line operators
  • Assembly tooling development: specifying, procuring, and validating fixtures, torque tools, leak test rigs, and other production tooling
  • Manufacturing BOM (mBOM) creation and maintenance, ensuring the manufacturing view of the product reflects current-state processes
  • Production scheduling and line planning: managing which products run, when, and at what rate given capacity and demand
  • Continuous process improvement: identifying and closing quality escapes, driving root cause investigations, and implementing corrective actions

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or quality engineering for complex electromechanical assemblies
  • Demonstrated experience qualifying assembly processes, written process qualification records, control plans, and work instructions you have personally developed
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical quality requirements: weld inspection, torque verification, leak/water ingress testing
  • Working knowledge of electrical fundamentals: ability to read wiring diagrams and harness schematics, understand connector and wire gauge specifications, and follow basic electrical inspection criteria
  • Experience developing or supporting end-of-line functional test programs for electromechanical products
  • Comfortable creating and managing mBOMs in a PDM or ERP environment
  • Able to lead root cause investigations and write clear, actionable corrective action reports
  • Self-directed and organized: able to manage multiple open work streams without losing detail

BONUS POINTS
  • Experience with battery module or power electronics assembly processes
  • Background in aerospace, defense, automotive, or marine industries where process rigor and traceability are required
  • Familiarity with IP67 or IP68 sealing processes and leak test methodologies
  • Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP, or similar structured quality methodologies
  • Experience using or programming electrical test equipment (even if not the primary owner of test development)
