Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Python / AI Developer to build, operate, and scale Python APIs and backend services that integrate AI capabilities into internal and external applications. The role focuses on productionizing AI integrations, orchestrations, and data flows rather than developing machine learning models. The ideal candidate will have strong Python 3.x and FastAPI experience, along with cloud, database, CI/CD, containerization, testing, observability, security, and distributed systems expertise. The candidate should be comfortable working with AI services such as Google Gemini through Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, and OpenAI while ensuring production-ready, secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and document FastAPI services and SDKs supporting AI-enabled features.
• Build secure, versioned REST APIs and backend services using Python and FastAPI or Flask.
• Integrate third-party AI providers including Gemini, Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, and OpenAI using secure and observable integration patterns.
• Build event-driven and synchronous backend services using REST APIs, webhooks, queues, and messaging systems.
• Implement robust error handling, retries, circuit breakers, rate limiting, and caching.
• Optimize application latency, throughput, reliability, and operational cost.
• Design and maintain database schemas, migrations, and data access patterns using relational and distributed data stores.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, or similar tools.
• Containerize applications using Docker and support infrastructure automation using Terraform.
• Develop unit, integration, and contract tests and maintain a strong testing culture.
• Implement structured logging, metrics, tracing, monitoring, and production observability.
• Own production readiness, operational documentation, and runbooks for backend services.
• Collaborate with product, data, and ML teams to translate business requirements into APIs, integrations, and workflows.
• Apply security, privacy, and compliance best practices, including secure secrets management, authentication, authorization, and PII handling.
• Support AI prompt and response handling and ensure AI integrations are reliable and production-ready.

Required Qualifications
• 4-8+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on Python 3.x development.
• Production experience with FastAPI or Flask for developing secure, versioned APIs.
• Experience with GCP or AWS cloud platforms, including services such as Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, Lambda, EKS, API Gateway, or SQS.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience with Redis or equivalent services such as ElastiCache or Memorystore.
• Experience with database migrations and schema design.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, or similar tools.
• Experience with Docker and containerized application development.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Experience developing unit, integration, and contract tests.
• Knowledge of OpenAPI and API specification practices.
• Experience implementing application observability through logs, metrics, and traces.
• Strong understanding of resiliency patterns and performance tuning in distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience integrating AI services such as Vertex AI/Gemini, AWS Bedrock, or OpenAI.
• Experience with AI prompt and response handling.
• Intermediate data engineering skills using Python and SQL.
• Experience with OAuth/OIDC, JWT, service-to-service authentication, KMS, Secrets Manager, or comparable security technologies.
• Understanding of data pipeline fundamentals, including batch-to-feature/API workflows.
• Experience with schema evolution practices.
• Front-end development experience with React.
• Experience building full-stack applications.
