YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Purchasing and Distribution Manager in our Guymon, OK office. This role provides leadership and management of the end-to-end supply chain operation, including purchasing, inbound transportation, distribution, outbound transportation, and delivery of medication and consumable supplies to a network of farms across our five-state geography: OK, KS, TX, CO, and IA. The Sr. Purchasing and Distribution Manager will develop and promote a culture of safety, teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement for the benefit of Seaboard Foods customers, employees, suppliers, and stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct supervision of the team that delivers medication, select feed, and consumable supplies to farms. Develop and lead a high-performance work team through coaching and teaching best practices in purchasing and inventory management principles. Develop highly collaborative working relationships with SBF peers, leaders and team members.
  • Leverage inventory management principles, processes, and systems to improve and protect the accuracy of inventory, both physically and financially, from purchase through delivery in full compliance with biosecurity regulations. Manage reorder points (ROPs) and reorder quantities (ROQs) for inventory; actively manage the obsolete inventory process for packaging items.
  • Develop goals, accountabilities and special job objectives for the team, directly connected to division goals and the SBF long-term strategy. Coordinate and administrate the annual performance management and goal setting processes for the team. Develop and administer key performance indicators and measurement metrics that provide visibility to stated goals for safety, service, accuracy and cost. Prepare budgets, analysis, forecasts, capital plans, and reports as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives incorporating Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement principles in collaboration with leadership, operations, suppliers, and stakeholders. Routinely seek feedback regarding the effectiveness of services provided.
  • Develop and direct a robust supplier management program that sources qualified suppliers, maximizes competition for goods and services, prepares backup suppliers to minimize risk, and reduces overall lead time. Collaboratively develop plans for new supplier start-up and assist operations with implementation.
  • Ensure written procedures for all distribution center positions are in place, are followed and are updated as necessary to ensure duties are carried out in a consistent manner.
  • In collaboration with health assurance, maintain a complete and current file of MSDS sheets and prescriptions for applicable products purchased.
  • Conduct all business with vendors in a professional, arm's-length manner to ensure the integrity of the Company and its employees is not compromised.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Required:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in inventory management, distribution, purchasing, or supply chain operations.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience supervising, coaching, and developing employees.
  • Demonstrated expertise in inventory management, forecasting, supplier management, and procurement operations, including involvement in supplier negotiations.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, leverage ERP systems, develop KPIs, and lead cross-functional teams to drive performance and continuous improvement.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Agriculture, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Experience in agriculture, food manufacturing, animal health, feed, or distribution operations.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards), inventory optimization tools, and demand planning/forecasting systems.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies, along with exposure to distribution center operations and transportation activities.

SCHEDULE
  • The schedule is based on departmental needs and business requirements. This role may require after-hours support, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
