Job PostingThe Senior Public Safety Wellness Manager oversees and directs the Public Safety Wellness Unit. This position recruits and trains peer support members, hires clinicians, oversees the Police and Fire Peer Support Teams, coordinates mental health resources, and serves as the liaison between first responders, the Police and Fire Chiefs, and the Municipal Court Director regarding Marshals. Additional duties include administering workers' compensation; coordinating Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) interventions and other mental health services; conducting initial assessments to determine appropriate referrals; and developing wellness programs such as yoga for first responders, biofeedback, EMDR, stress inoculation training, and other assigned initiatives. This is a stand-alone unit that reports directly to the Director of Human Resources. The role requires specialized clinical training and experience to effectively support first responders from the first day of employment. Qualified candidates must have experience supervising licensed mental health clinicians, including performance evaluation, clinical quality assurance, and professional development; a Doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field from an accredited university, along with at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in the mental health field, including a minimum of three years of management experience and three years working directly with first responders. Required experience includes psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, service coordination, case management, skills training, counseling, and crisis intervention. Candidates must also have a valid state-issued driver's license and current licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Psychologist. CISM certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire, is required. Candidates must have at least EMDR training, be a Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC) or have equivalent experience working with first responders, and have biofeedback training or the ability to obtain it.
