The Opportunity

The Senior Project Risk Manager supports execution and continuous improvement of the Integrated Operations Technology's (IOT's) project risk processes across assigned capital, construction, manufacturing, mission-critical, and industrial projects. The role independently leads qualitative and quantitative risk activities, including risk identification, risk-register management, mitigation tracking, Monte Carlo simulation, tornado and sensitivity analysis, Schedule Risk Analysis, schedule integration, and governance reporting. The position partners with Project Managers, Project Controls, schedulers, and functional leaders to improve visibility of cost, schedule, operational, procurement, readiness, and cross-project risks and to support risk-informed decision-making.

What you will do?

Project Risk Execution
• Maintain project risk registers and ensure timely, accurate updates from functional owners.
• Facilitate recurring project risk reviews and risk-identification workshops with Project Managers and functional subject-matter experts.
• Support integration of risk baselines into Project Directives, project execution plans, and early planning activities.
• Apply standard risk scoring, templates, documentation requirements, and escalation practices across active projects.
• Evaluate threats and opportunities, define response strategies, and monitor mitigation actions through closure.

Quantitative Risk & Schedule Analysis
• Plan and perform Monte Carlo simulations to quantify schedule and, where applicable, cost uncertainty and contingency requirements.
• Perform Schedule Risk Analysis using logic-linked project schedules, risk events, uncertainty ranges, correlations, and appropriate simulation assumptions.
• Develop and interpret tornado and sensitivity analyses to identify the primary drivers of project exposure.
• Assess confidence levels and risk-adjusted completion dates, milestones, and contingency scenarios; communicate assumptions, limitations, and results clearly.
• Partner with schedulers and Project Controls to review schedule quality, critical and near-critical paths, constraints, float, calendars, and model inputs before analysis.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Conduct risk-identification sessions with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Facilities, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Project Controls.
• Ensure functional owners define clear mitigation actions, accountable owners, target dates, and measurable outcomes.
• Coordinate cross-project and cross-site risk visibility, dependencies, and alignment.
• Coach project teams on risk ownership, cause-event-impact statements, response planning, and escalation expectations.

Factory Readiness, Procurement & Execution Support
• Track factory-readiness risks, including tooling, layout changes, qualification, equipment receipt, commissioning, and staffing.
• Participate in readiness walks, floor reviews, build-planning meetings, and project reviews.
• Prepare risk summaries and supporting documentation for long-lead or at-risk procurement reviews.
• Ensure functional inputs align with PMO governance and applicable approval thresholds.

Reporting, Governance & Continuous Improvement
• Update risk dashboards and provide concise reporting for Summits, Touchpoints, readiness gates, and leadership reviews.
• Escalate overdue mitigations, high-severity risks, and emerging portfolio exposures to the appropriate leaders.
• Improve templates, tools, dashboards, quantitative-analysis practices, and scoring criteria.
• Capture lessons learned and incorporate findings into future project planning and risk baselines.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 7-12 years of progressive experience in project controls, project management, engineering, operations, or project risk management, including responsibility for complex capital or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating cross-functional risk workshops and maintaining project risk registers, mitigation plans, and governance reporting.
  • Hands-on experience performing Monte Carlo analysis, tornado or sensitivity analysis, and Schedule Risk Analysis and translating the results into practical project decisions.
  • Working knowledge of critical path method scheduling, schedule logic, float, constraints, risk-adjusted dates, and contingency concepts.
  • Experience with scheduling, ERP, risk, or BI tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Deltek, Power BI, Excel, or comparable platforms.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, facilitation, executive reporting, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), or another recognized project risk, project controls, cost, or schedule management certification.
  • Experience supporting capital infrastructure, EPC, manufacturing, mission-critical, construction, or industrial programs.
  • Experience integrating cost, schedule, procurement, readiness, and operational risks into portfolio-level reporting and contingency planning.
  • Experience developing executive-level dashboards, quantitative risk reports, and recommendations for governance or stage-gate decisions.
  • Experience using an enterprise risk management platform such as Riskonnect or another leading enterprise risk management system is a plus.
