What You'll Do (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

Lead Cross-functional Project Teams

A Project Manager is expected to lead cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and new mattresses, bases, and accessories to the market on time, on cost, and on quality.
  • These projects are typically small to medium size platform projects for specific retail opportunities. The projects may include mattress stack development, textile development and working with suppliers to support this development, developing new manufacturing processes and capabilities, and often include supply chain development.
  • Lead the delivery of the product to market with supporting assets that allow our retailer partners to order, market, and sell new products to consumers.
  • The Project Leader is expected to lead by influence as team members report to the functions.
  • The Project Leader will be leading multiple projects at the same time.

Delivering Results Through the Team

A Project Manager is expected to coordinate and drive execution with the team, developing the ability to structure work and anticipate needs.
  • Build and maintain a clear project plan and schedule, with guidance as needed.
  • Ensure tasks, decisions, ownership, and timelines are understood, managed, and closed consistently.
  • Follow up with team members to drive progress and remove blockers.
  • Facilitate team discussions to surface issues and align on next steps.
  • Escalate appropriately with team members when additional support is needed (vs. trying to solve everything independently)
  • Support execution by tracking details, driving closure to actions and deliverables closely.
  • Begin identifying risks and issues early, though may require support to fully mitigate.

Leadership & Professional Presence

A Project Manager demonstrates professional communication and growing business awareness, with some coaching.
  • Communicates project updates clearly, though may rely on templates or coaching for refinement.
  • Understands basic business priorities and connects project work to outcomes with support.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in meetings, with increasing confidence over time.
  • Prepares for reviews but may still be more reactive vs. fully synthesized.
  • Uses feedback to improve communication style and effectiveness.

Process Discipline & Organizational Alignment

A Project Manager applies PMO processes consistently and builds discipline in execution.
  • Uses PMO tools, templates, and systems (e.g., Propel) as expected.
  • Follows defined governance cadence (status updates, reviews, action closure)
  • Maintains project documentation with good consistency.
  • Understands the purpose of processes but may treat them as required steps vs. strategic enablers.
  • Seeks clarification when processes are unclear.

Team Engagement & Feedback

A Project Manager develops effective working relationships and team trust, with growing influence.
  • Engages team members to ensure participation and progress.
  • Builds credibility by being reliable and organized.
  • Encourages input but may not yet consistently drive full accountability.
  • Responds constructively to feedback and adjusts approach.
  • Escalates issues with the team when needed rather than letting them stall.
  • Contributes to a collaborative team environment.
  • Creates an environment where issues are surfaced early and addressed constructively.

Other Duties and Functions
  • Along with the PMO, identify and execute improvements to our Commercialization Process and Operating standards.
  • Maintain the key documentation.
  • Assist other functions in establishing Project Management systems.
