Full Job Description
The Senior Project Manager provides end-to-end technical, financial, and operational leadership for complex capital projects. This role bridges high-level construction management, budget and schedule control, and technical engineering oversight, while directly mentoring project managers, engineers, and site personnel to deliver quality bulk material handling and construction solutions safely, on-time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management & Execution
    • Manage Project Manager duties from fully executed contract through final completion, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and leadership.
    • Develop, monitor, and maintain baseline project schedules and master project budgets to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.
    • Oversee subcontractor management, including bid letting, scope reviews, contract execution, and invoice approvals.
    • Drive cross-functional alignment between Construction Management, Engineering, Installation, and Service teams to ensure seamless transitions across job phases.
    • Assist Construction Management sales teams during pre-bid, scope definition, and technical proposal phases as needed.
  • Quality Control
    • Provide management oversight for Project Managers, ensuring technical deliverables align with customer specifications, applicable codes (OSHA/MSHA, ACI Concrete), and QA/QC policies.
    • Perform regular quality-control audits on project manager work (budget, timeline, technical accuracy, and personnel performance).
    • Design, implement, and refine project management workflows to drive clarity, efficiency, and standardized execution across all projects.
  • Site Safety & Field Operations
    • Partner with the Safety Director to enforce site safety protocols and MSHA/OSHA standards across all assigned project sites.
    • Understand the operation, safety, and cleanliness requirements for all machinery and sites within your scope of responsibility.
    • Conduct regular field visits and inspections to monitor construction progress, safety practices, and workmanship quality (requires 20%-30% travel).
  • Leadership, Team Development & Communication
    • Mentor and guide Project Managers, Project Engineers, and design team members, helping them develop technical expertise and project control skills.
    • Facilitate consistent, clear communication between internal resources, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
    • Maintain organized, audit-ready project records, engineering calculations, and contractual documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary construction or heavy industrial engineering projects; prior experience in the bulk material handling, aggregate, or mining industries is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Thorough understanding of construction processes & aggregate equipment.
    • Practical knowledge of OSHA/MSHA design parameters.
  • Software & Tools: ERP/E1 software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional multi-tasking, time management, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to project sites and customer facilities approximately 20%-30% of the time.
