Full Job Description
Stantec Consulting Services Inc. seeks a Senior Project Manager in the rapidly growing Water Engineering Practice at its Jackson, MS office. The Jackson Team leads and supports our client with a wide variety of water infrastructure improvements in Jackson and other projects across the US. Team members are expected to be able to lead tasks and teams, develop technical teams, develop and maintain client relationships, manage large projects and contribute technically to several areas of engineering. Your experience and expertise should be in at least one of the following areas.
  • Water and Wastewater utilities and/or treatment
  • Management of multi-disciplined teams
  • Water/Wastewater infrastructure design and construction projects

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Manage key client relationships and develop new opportunities.
  • Oversee and deliver various tasks within the Jackson Program in addition to other Programs / Projects within the Water sector as required.
  • Manage the work of others within the project team and supervise staff on projects assigned to you.
  • Lead and support the business in decision making such as strategic direction, goal setting, identifying clients, market challenges and opportunities.
  • Track project performance, from both a client and Stantec perspective. This includes cost, schedule and quality performance requirements.
  • Support and mentor others within the group.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives and lead project pursuits collaborating across Stantec's business lines.
  • Work closely with our team on project delivery.
  • Demonstrate high level of understanding the principles and practices of water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Provide high level project management and leadership overseeing on-going water projects throughout Jackson, the Gulf Coast and beyond.
  • Provide leadership at a project and task level and working with other engineering staff to complete projects.
  • Prepare Project Risk Register with understanding of risk-based decision making.
  • Assist in the development and technical review of specifications, plans, and schedules for detailed phases of engineering work.
  • Prepare cost estimates, feasibility reports, job budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare proposals.
  • Participate and/or oversee personnel involved in engineering investigations, planning, design and construction services.
  • Communicate effectively and apply with a high level of understanding of project management principles.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to conduct effective client and agency presentations and written technical report preparation.
  • Demonstrated project experience through professional publications and presentations.
  • Demonstrated fieldwork, such as reconnaissance, measurements, construction inspection, or instrument handling and deployment.
  • Review design calculations for civil engineering practice on water and wastewater utilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of design plans and specifications for bidding and construction purposes.

Education and Experience

20+ years of experience in one of the areas of expertise listed above.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
