Your role at GEI.

We are looking for Practice Leaders in Geotechnical, Water Resources, and, Civil, in the Richmond or Charlottesville, Virginia areas. Reporting to our Washington, DC area Branch Manager, this position will lead the growth of technical services and market expansion in the Richmond area as well as manage technical projects.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Manage projects both financially and technically.
  • Identify and attract business development opportunities within practice; identify key clients / business areas, growth strategy, and capture strategy.
  • Lead proposal efforts responding to both public and private RFPs.
  • Partner with marketing and others to develop GEI "branding" within practice.
  • Enhance the professional development and skill set of staff within the practice and be a resource to them.
  • Manage and mentor junior staff both technically and professionally.
  • Actively participate in professional, industry, and policy groups to foster client relationships within the practice/market.
  • Ensure that GEI's health and safety (H&S) culture and GEI's quality processes are followed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Successful track record as a Seller-Doer with strong client relationships and business development capability.
  • Senior Leader respected for technical capabilities and having strong risk and contract management experience.
  • Ability to identify and lead project opportunities in the region.
  • Collegial team builder with excellent leadership skills.
  • Broad understanding of the Richmond area needs, opportunities, and emerging trends.
  • Experience supervising/leading/mentoring and growing staff.
  • Willing and able to travel between Richmond, Charlottesville, Washington, DC and Rockville, Maryland offices and client locations on an as-needed basis.
  • Experience in water resources, energy, and transportation sectors a plus.
