Position Summary

The Senior Project Manager leads and directs all aspects of assigned projects and initiatives for designated programs/services throughout Northern Health (NH). The scope of work focuses on managing highly complex projects and initiatives that have many interdependencies and high levels of organizational transformation. Plans and manages initiatives, which involves coordinating multiple projects to attain an overarching strategic goal, including overall accountability for initiative resource expenditures, and ensuring outcomes are achieved. In the capacity of project manager, they ensure that project deliverables are completed on time and on budget, as described in the project plan. Leads and coordinates project activities including financial responsibility and management of resources as deemed necessary to meet the schedule and budget for project deliverables.
Establishes project teams and provides leadership, guidance, direction, and support to project staff, including other project managers, in a variety of reporting relationships including direct report, matrix and staff that are seconded to projects part time. Communicates with all levels of staff and management within the HSDA and/or across NH to facilitate decision making, consult, negotiate, and share information. Liaises with consultants, vendors and other healthcare entities and other external agencies to negotiate contracts for the provision of goods and services.
The Senior Project Manager provides mentorship and expertise to other NH Project Managers, promoting utilization of project management best practices, methodologies, and standards, and providing guidance in the resolution of complex issues.
Starting salary will be approximately from $108,147 to $135,184 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.
Qualfications
• Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Services Administration, or relevant discipline.
• Seven (7) to Ten (10) years recent related experience in project management and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
• Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach team members on these skills.
• Sound business acumen to manage the fiscal resources of assigned projects in a manner that is financially responsible and consistent with the overall goals of the organization.
• Excellent communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment.
• Ability to utilize initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving to implement project plans and realize project completion.
• General knowledge of patient care delivery systems in primary, acute and community settings.
• Effective facilitation, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems.
• Proficiency in Office Systems (i.e., Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Visio).
• Knowledge and experience working with electronic project management systems.
• Physical ability to perform duties of the position.
• Ability and willingness to travel within Northern Health's geographic region.
• Current valid BC Driver's License.
