Full Job Description
Position Summary

Leadership for complex projects and initiatives. Projects are typically IT, data and development focused but may also include finance/accounting, business planning, business operations, customer service, or other non-technical subjects and require extensive interactions with cross-functional teams of various functional areas of the business and vendors.

Duties
  • Leads the development of the overall approach for the project, its major time frames and the definition of its major deliverables to address and meet the desired goals and outcomes.
  • Partners with the executive sponsor to communicate project goals, objectives and potential outcomes.
  • Leads regular interactions with the executive sponsor to inform, alert, negotiate and maintain a continuing good relationship and shared vision for the project outcome.
  • Establishes and ensures appropriate governance functions for the project in accordance with enterprise policies, practices and on behalf of the executive sponsor/owner.
  • Directs the creation and maintenance of the required project documentation and artifacts.
  • Monitors and controls the resource allocation and usage on the project.
  • Ensures and balances the availability of the required skills and competencies across project teams.
  • Leads reviews with the executive sponsor and stakeholders to identify organic or specific project needs and changes, and directs the development of appropriate approaches to address.
  • Leads the development and maintenance of stakeholder mapping, communications and reporting.
  • Leads the oversight of projects' execution, their progress compared with the plan and the production of agreed deliverables.
  • Monitors and coordinates dependencies across the projects and resolves conflicts.
  • Directs or approves the establishment of a framework or guidelines for the use of contractors and professional service providers, and determines their use across the project.
  • Supports and facilitates agenda setting for project committee/board meetings.
  • Manages project initiation activities that include discovery, confirming contractual obligations, business or client requirements, goals, existing context, key contacts and access to existing information as needed.
  • Ensures requirements for projects align to operational standards. Develops alternate requirements or document exceptions as appropriate.
  • Develops, defines and executes project plans, project scope, activities schedules, budgets and deliverables.
  • Coordinates activities and tasks with project team members, other internal departments and client or vendor/subcontractor organizations as needed to meet project goals and ensure project completion is on schedule, within budget constraints, and of the appropriate quality standards for the project scope.
  • Manages project risks, issues/problems, and activity progress to ensure project goals (e.g., deadline, scope and quality) are achieved. Assists with problem resolution or risk mitigation as needed.
  • May manage the integration of vendor/subcontractor tasks, and track and review vendor/subcontractor deliverables, if appropriate.
  • Serves as liaison between internal departments as well as in client and vendor/subcontractor organizations to ensure all project targets and requirements are met.
  • Delivers informational and decision-seeking presentations to business groups.
  • Conducts project closure activities to formalize and communicate the project acceptance, handover documentation and ongoing activities to accountable teams, and complete a post-implementation review to identify areas of improvement.
  • Identifies project management coordination gaps or areas of improvement and recommends and implements solutions.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.


Requirements
  • Must be proficient with MS Office products including MS Project and Visio
  • Must be comfortable working with technical teams
  • Must be a problem solver
  • Must be an excellent communicator - both verbal and in writing


Experience
  • 5+ Years leading and managing technical projects
  • 2+ Years Agile Project Management/ScrumMaster experience


Education
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • PMP is preferred but not required.
