Full Job Description
The Senior Project Manager plays a central role in the GO Expansion program, which is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.

The Senior Project Manager's key responsibilities are:

  • Leads and coordinates Due Diligence and Investigation activities that support & enable design, construction, and overall project delivery.
  • Acts as a key interface between investigation teams, designers, construction teams, and the client.
  • Provides senior leadership across a large, multi-disciplinary organization consisting of office-based and field teams, including leaders-of-leaders, with accountability for organizational structure, capability building, and succession planning.
  • Is comfortable managing diverse teams, including junior engineers and more senior supervisory or field staff with different roles, backgrounds, and working cultures.
  • Brings structure, foresight, and accountability to complex investigation scopes in a live railway environment.
  • Owns the identification, assessment, and mitigation of investigation-related risks, ensuring alignment with the broader project risk framework and enabling proactive decision-making at the leadership level
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders across multiple levels and functions, with strong judgment in tailoring messaging and providing clear, timely updates that align senior leadership, operational teams, and key partners.
  • Understands construction constraints and the importance of investigation outcomes on cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Supports a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 12-15 years of relevant experience in major infrastructure projects, with hands-on experience in railway projects.
  • Proven experience leading and coordinating Due Diligence and Investigation activities such as geotechnical, utilities, structural, and corridor-related investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary and multi-generational teams in complex project environments.
  • Strong understanding of the interfaces between investigations, design development, and construction execution.
  • Experience reviewing investigation scopes, methodologies, reports, and deliverables to ensure technical quality and constructability.
  • Ability to develop and manage investigation schedules in coordination with project planning teams.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and controlling investigation budgets, estimates, variations, and change management processes.
  • Solid understanding of project risk identification and mitigation, with the ability to contribute effectively to project risk registers.
  • Experience working under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and meeting project deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong people management experience in a matrix environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with planning tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project is considered an asset.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline

Salary Range: >200,000 yearly
