Position Summary

The Senior Project Manager, Engineering plays a critical role in delivering safe, compliant, and value-creating capital projects that support Nestlé's manufacturing operations.This role is responsible for the end-to-end leadership of complex, high-value capital projects, extending from early conceptual studies through execution, commissioning, and project close-out. The role provides technical leadership, project governance, and stakeholder alignment while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with Nestlé standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
Capital Project Leadership
• Lead large and complex capital investment projects from feasibility through project close-out.
• Develop capital project requirements and business cases to secure funding approval.
• Lead conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering design using Early Management / TPM methodology.
• Resolve project conflicts and risks proactively across multiple priorities.
Project Controls & Governance
• Own scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change management per Nestlé Capital Governance.
• Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions as required.
• Ensure accurate forecasting, project accounting, depreciation tracking, and financial close-out.
• Communicate project status to stakeholders from shop floor to senior leadership.
Safety, Quality & Compliance Leadership
• Champion Environmental, Health & Safety (SHE) through all project stages.
• Ensure compliance with Good Engineering Practices, GMPs, building codes, and legislation.
• Partner with Manufacturing, SHE, and Quality to deliver compliant technical solutions.
Technical & Engineering Oversight
• Maintain accountability for User Requirement Specifications (URS), procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, verification, and final handover of capital assets.
• Provide senior technical oversight across electrical, automation, processing, packaging, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Oversee application of Factory Automation Systems (FAS), MES, PLC, HMI, robotics, and digital manufacturing solutions where applicable.
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
• Lead and manage engineering consultants, system integrators, OEMs, contractors, and suppliers.
• Influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority, ensuring alignment with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Procurement.
• Ensure compliance with Nestlé Procure-to-Pay, contractor safety, and supplier management standards.
Capability Building
• Mentor and coach Project Engineers and junior Project Managers.
• Drive continuous improvement in project delivery practices, technical standards, and execution discipline.
What Will Make You Successful
Education & Experience
• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive engineering and project management experience in food, confectionery, ice cream, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated success delivering complex, brownfield capital projects in live manufacturing operations.
• Experience leading electrical, automation, packaging, processing, utilities, and building construction projects.
Technical & Professional Expertise
• Strong knowledge of electrical and controls systems, including single line diagrams, PLC architectures, HMI systems, P&IDs, controls networks, and digital manufacturing infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Factory Automation Systems (FAS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and industrial robotics.
• Working knowledge of utilities systems such as refrigeration, compressed air, boilers, and natural gas systems.
