This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Senior Project Manager- Electrification & Grid Infrastructure in Chicago, IL. Leading and delivering transportation electrification and grid-related infrastructure projects. In this role, you will work at the forefront of the energy transition, supporting clients across North America in planning and implementing electrification strategies, grid capacity solutions, and charging infrastructure programs.
Your Impact
  • Lead the planning and end-to-end delivery of transportation electrification projects, including fleet transition strategies, grid capacity assessments, and EV charging infrastructure programs.
  • Guide the integration of energy storage combined with distributed and utility-scale renewables, EV charging, and building electrification into coherent portfolios, roadmaps, stakeholder management plans, and designs.
  • Evaluate grid impacts, interconnection costs, operational constraints, and benefits (emissions reductions, reliability, resilience value, demand flexibility) of various energy transition technologies.
  • Serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor, helping clients navigate complex energy and infrastructure decisions.
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams (power systems, civil, environmental, planning, economics, GIS) and manage subcontractors and partners.
  • Drive project management activities, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality control
  • Support and lead business development efforts, including pursuit strategy, proposal development, and client relationship management.
  • Develop proposals including project scopes of work, level of effort, and resourcing plans while supporting pipeline development and client growth.
  • Facilitate client workshops, progress reviews, and executive briefings; translate complex technical findings into clear recommendations.
  • Collaborate across WSP teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Mentor and guide early career staff and colleagues
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification
  • 7+ years of experience in transportation electrification, energy systems, or power infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and client-facing roles
  • Strong knowledge of electric grid systems, energy modeling, or infrastructure planning
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Experience with fleet electrification, charging infrastructure design, or distributed energy resources
  • Background in business development and proposal leadership
  • Familiarity with energy policy, incentives, and utility coordination

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $102,200 - $149,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
