We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team in the Washington, DC area. This position will be responsible for creating a positive impact on multiple teams supporting the Department of Transportation (DOT). In this role, you will be responsible for establishing relationships with clients, understanding their needs and the needs of the team supporting them, and creatively providing solutions. This role requires 2-4 days per week onsite at the DOT headquarters in Washington, DC. The Senior Project Manager has overall responsibility for the technical, budget, schedule, administrative and financial execution of individual projects. Has responsibility for financial performance on assigned projects. The position may be assigned to several projects concurrently. What You Will Do:
  • Develop relationships with clients at various levels in the government to ensure successful project delivery on multiple contracts.
  • Identify requirements, coordinate resources, and communicate decisions to appropriate personnel, both internal to the team and our clients.
  • Develop budgets, schedules, and profit objectives for assigned projects, within the requirements of contracts and subject to the approval of Regional Management.
  • Take the lead in negotiating budgets, schedules, project terms, and conditions on specific proposal opportunities.
  • Work with Regional Management to establish staffing requirements in support of project execution.
  • Initiate project setup to initiate and maintain project management files for assigned projects.
  • In charge of various tasks necessary to execute project requirements.
  • Provide direction and oversight to various employees that are assigned to projects.
  • Assure projects are executed within approve the d budget and schedule and in accordance with company Quality requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects.
  • Participate in marketing the company's services to client contacts and to new clients as assigned by Regional Management.
  • Assist Regional Management in the evaluation of employee performance, and in identifying employee training and development needs.
  • Assist in training and mentoring of project employees.
  • Assure that invoices are properly prepared in accordance with contractual terms and are issued to clients in a timely manner.
  • Work with Financial Services Group to ensure that payment on outstanding invoices is forthcoming in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and submit time charge records, expense reports, invoice approvals, and collections status notices in a timely manner in accordance with company procedures.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • 10+ years of related experience preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to appropriately interact with clients of all levels, including executives, in writing and in-person interactions at DOT Headquarters.
  • Ability to manage complex relationships between multiple stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the clients and support staff.
  • Ability to support, manage, and contribute to multiple projects, deliverables, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently.
  • Ability to organize, plan, monitor, and control project contractual requirements, budgets, schedules, and technical work.
  • Ability to utilize basic personal computer applications, including spreadsheets, word processors, email, and internet browsers.
  • Ability to communicate technical aspects of projects and of work assignments to peers, subordinates, and clients.
  • Ability to direct the execution of complex projects.
  • Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to Group Manager or Regional Manager for administrative matters. May have individual contributor direct reports.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily sedentary; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, although some work is performed in the field. Work is non-manual in nature.
