The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL or Columbus OH location in the Nutrition Division. Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain is seeking a results-driven Senior Project Manager to lead and execute cross functional projects within our Margin & Profitability (M&P) Project Management Office (PMO).  This role serves as the key liaison between project owners, project teams, and senior management, ensuring clear communication of project progress, risks, achievements, and escalation items. Responsibilities include project ideation, evaluation, prioritization, NPD (New Product Development) approval, and the realization of defined cost savings.

We are seeking a high-caliber program leader with a track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives in regulated industries. Candidates with experience in Packaging Engineering, Nutrition, Food & Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing environments are especially encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Work On 

Portfolio Management

  • Implement, monitor and improve business processes in support of the Project Management Organization (PMO)
  • Demonstrate stewardship and provide project leadership to meet Divisional strategies and business objectives.
  • Contributes to the development of the ANSC M&P savings roadmap, ensuring alignment with financial and operational goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, procurement, R&D, engineering, regulatory, and quality teams to identify, evaluate, prioritize, and execute impactful M&P projects.
  • Align interdependent M&P projects with active and pipeline initiatives across the organization to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Present project updates and strategic insights to senior executive forums, including Monthly Business Reviews, New Product Development (NPD) meetings, and ANSC Prioritization sessions.

Project Execution

  • Identify, scope, plan and execution of medium-to-complex projects. Projects ranging from new products or manufacturing processes, supplier- driven changes, and ingredient formulation, all to drive cost improvement initiatives.
  • Manage comprehensive project plans using project management software throughout the lifecycle, ensuring accurate tracking of timelines, resources, and financial allocations.
  • Manage project and expense budgets, ensuring fiscal discipline and alignment with approved financial plans.
  • Support the capital management process for M&P projects, including ideation, feasibility assessments, milestone tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Serve as a key liaison between cross-functional teams and executive leadership to ensure transparency, alignment, and informed decision-making.
  • Direct the work of project team members, set goals and objectives, monitor progress on tasks.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience managing global cross functional programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise with project and program management tools, methodologies, and governance processes.
  • Proven track record of delivering high‑quality, complex programs successfully.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills, initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and hold teams accountable for results.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Strong written and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with senior management.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Packaging Engineering experience
  • Experience leading packaging, formulation, manufacturing, supply chain, productivity, or cost-savings projects.
  • Experience in Nutrition, Food & Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of New Product Development (NPD), product lifecycle management, or margin improvement programs.

The base pay for this position is

$113,300.00 – $226,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
