Full Job Description
The Senior Project Finance Analyst position is responsible for the overall financial health of projects within the assigned service line business and end-to-end administration of the project lifecycle including billing / invoicing, revenue review, backlog forecasting, profitability, change orders, and other reporting. This position will work closely with the internal teams to provide project financial support and ensure project financials are properly monitored to maximize project profitability and cash flow.

Essential Functions
  • Manage the end-to-end administration of the project lifecycle, from startup, maintenance, and closeout, in accordance with the contract budget.
  • Coordinate configuration of the project and contract modules, including assignment of rate sets / plans to activities and the corresponding billing and revenue lines.
  • Identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
  • Manage month-end close process for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance to drive results to department goals for revenue, backlog, margins, and AR.
  • Partner with the Project Manager(s) in financial support of the project.
  • Improve project financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends and recommending actions to management.
  • Pull and review study time reports and work with project teams to ensure hours are entered correctly.
  • Monitor monthly compliance reports to ensure timely reporting of revenue and billing deliverables.
  • Create and submit invoices to customers monthly for all assigned projects.
  • Maintain internal and customer reports. Reports include spend forecasts, project actuals, and cash flow analyses.
  • Assist in the preparation of invoice backup requirements, and client reconciliation requests as required.
  • Track project financials and properly escalate within ProPharma management utilization concerns and contract value limitations.
  • May perform other country / regional accounting duties to support the month end closing process.
  • Other projects as necessary within support Project Finance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Necessary Skills and Abilities
  • Fast learner and eager to grow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience creating and submitting invoices.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change, ability to multitask with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Workday systems preferred.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (including but not limited to Vlookups, Hlookups, analyzing data utilizing Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts).
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and billing principles.
  • Clinical Research and / or consulting knowledge.


Educational Requirements
  • Degree in Business Management, Life Science, or related field for US or;
  • Bachelors in business economics I accountancy or similar training for EU/ UK.


Experience Requirements
  • At least 3-5 years' work experience in Project Finance at a CRO, experience with a consultancy firm is an advantage; small / medium business background is preferred.
