We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer with expertise in Stormwater, Water Resources, and Civil Infrastructure to support and deliver water infrastructure projects across California. The ideal candidate has 6 or more years of experience in Stormwater water infrastructure, and the ability to lead design efforts and support project management activities. A California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly preferred. This role collaborates closely with Project Managers and multidisciplinary BKF teams to deliver high-quality water infrastructure solutions while mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities- Lead and contribute to the design and delivery of water infrastructure projects, including stormwater and wastewater systems such as pipelines, pump stations, tanks, rehabilitation projects, planning studies, and hydrology/hydraulic analyses
- Support project management activities, including scope development, schedules, budgets, coordination with internal teams, and technical deliverables
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, and specifications
- Coordinate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders, including support of permitting processes and regulatory approvals
- Apply BKF standards and best practices to ensure quality, consistency, and innovation in project delivery
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers Collaborate across BKF service lines and disciplines to support integrated project delivery
- Assist with proposal support and technical input for water resources and stormwater pursuits as needed
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field
- California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly preferred (EIT required)
- 6+ years of experience in water resources and civil infrastructure engineering, with an emphasis on stormwater and/or wastewater projects
- Strong technical background in stormwater and wastewater infrastructure design, including pipelines, pump stations, pipe rehabilitation, and hydrology/hydraulic modeling
- Experience supporting or leading planning studies, master plans, and infrastructure projects from concept through design and construction support
- Familiarity with California permitting processes, agency coordination, and technical documentation
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively coordinate with clients and project teams
- Interest in continued technical growth and increased project leadership responsibility
Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.
Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.
Benefits- The typical base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 - $149,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salary position paid biweekly.
