Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineer will support our 02S prefabrication operations by owning the design, procurement, and process workflows for process piping, HVAC, and mechanical/plumbing systems. This role bridges detailed mechanical design review with material takeoffs, procurement coordination, material tracking, and continuous improvement of our workflows.

Focus: Procurement, Material Management, and Process Improvement

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review mechanical, process piping, HVAC, and plumbing drawings/specs to develop and maintain accurate BOMs and work packages tied to project budgets.
  • Validate system layouts, routing, supports, and equipment for constructability and compliance; support shop drawings and installation details with design partners and internal teams.
  • Lead material takeoffs for mechanical/process piping and coordinate with procurement to solicit quotes, evaluate proposals, recommend vendors, and manage POs, deliveries, changes, substitutions, and value-engineering options.
  • Develop and maintain material tracking logs and ensure full traceability of materials from requisition through delivery, fabrication, kitting, and installation to specific work packages, spools, areas, and cost codes.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, fabrication, and field teams to standardize receiving, inspection, staging, and kitting workflows, and resolve gaps in material data to enable accurate reporting and forecasting.
  • Map current engineering-design-procurement-fabrication workflows, identify bottlenecks and rework drivers, and implement lean process improvements, standard templates, and performance metrics (e.g., cycle time, material accuracy, % complete vs. plan).
  • Work closely with project management, estimators, procurement, fabrication, accounting, and field teams to align engineering deliverables with schedule and budget, surface material risks early, and provide clear, data-driven status and decision updates.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Experience in process piping, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing systems in an industrial, commercial, or construction environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with material takeoffs, BOM creation, procurement coordination, and material tracking for mechanical scopes.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical and piping drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, specifications, and equipment submittals.
  • Proficient in M-Suite for fabrication, material, and workflow data management, and in Microsoft Excel, Word, and related productivity tools for logs, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Experience with construction management and 3D coordination tools (e.g., model viewers, collaboration platforms) preferred.
  • Proven ability to build and manage structured workflows for material requisition, approvals, and tracking.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data accuracy, repeatable processes, and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communicator who can translate technical requirements into clear tasks and data for procurement and operations.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
