Senior Project Engineer

The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join the Government Training Engineering (GTE) Software Team located in Oklahoma City, OK. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) and Boeing Global Services (BGS) Software Engineering organization.

Training Systems is responsible for the design, development, and sustainment of a wide variety of commercial and military training devices, including the KC-46 SSOCS (Software Sustainment Organic Capability Standup). The team operates in a collaborative and professional environment comprised of multi-disciplined engineers dedicated to delivering innovative, reliable solutions that directly impact customer success and mission readiness. This role offers long-term potential for career growth into technical leadership or management, valuing the curiosity, tenacity, and creativity brought to the team each day.

The Senior Project Engineer will serve as the critical interface between customer programs and the Oklahoma City GTE organization, managing the entire product lifecycle and associated cost control accounts. Responsibilities include project management, technical leadership, and system requirements definition while collaborating closely with software and systems engineering teams to ensure alignment with program objectives and business goals. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders are essential for successful delivery of software products. This role also involves close collaboration with hardware, test teams, system engineers, and leadership, with occasional domestic and international travel required to support customer site implementations

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Earned Value Management metrics and track project performance against the plan

  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans aligned with defined objectives and industry standards (e.g., PMI, PMBOK, ANSI, ISO)

  • Drive process improvements and corrective actions based on lessons learned to enhance project management and support systems

  • Lead project phases or subsystems from initiation through completion and serve as the primary contact for key partner requirements

  • Implement and integrate project control systems to provide decision-makers with accurate, timely data

  • Collaborate with Agile teams to define high-level features, manage releases, and ensure alignment with business priorities and technical goals

  • Ensure development outputs meet program priorities while maintaining technical integrity, cost, and schedule targets

  • Analyze and recommend quality and process enhancements to improve project outcomes

  • Define and coordinate system performance requirements, assuring compatibility across all interface

  • Resolve cross-functional technical issues and conduct studies including trend analysis, risk assessment, and impact evaluation

  • Create and maintain schedules, reports, metrics, and change documentation, communicating updates throughout the project lifecycle

  • Provide technical and integration leadership, support proposal development, and lead resource planning to meet work statement requirements

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to workonsiteat one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor Degree

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

  • 9+ years of experience working in an Agile product development environment

  • 5+ years of experience managing projects and utilizing standard project management tools

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience communicating and collaborating directly with internal or external customers, peers, other employees, and all levels of leadership

  • EVM trained / CAM Certified

  • Project Management Professional certification

  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications (SP, SSM, SASM, POPM, SPC)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with aircraft platforms, aviation, simulation, and training systems is beneficial

  • Experience with System and Subsystem levels of Requirements generation

  • Experience with agile workflow tools such as JIRA or Gitlab

  • Experience with proposal development and contract negotiations

  • Software Engineering Experience

  • A collaborative team player with a transformative mindset that takes the initiative, while driving quality and technical excellence

  • Project planning and implementation, project leadership RIO, ROI, Cost Management

  • Experience in facilitating meetings and presenting to senior leaders

  • Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment

  • PMP or Project Management Certification
