What can you expect?
As the Senior Project Controls Specialist, you will work on-site in Anchorage, Alaska and be responsible for supporting all aspects of project cost tracking and status reporting. Provides hands-on technical support/knowledge for all job cost management and administrative tasks related to individual projects, primarily related to environmental and construction Federal contracts.
How will you do it?
- Responsible for forecasting, job analysis, revenue recognition and gauging overall financial performance of a job/project.
- Support Project Managers by proactively addressing financial, cost and client reporting issues.
- Support Project Managers with cost analysis by preparing job cost reports to measure actual progress against planned and the reporting package necessary for forecasting and computing indirect rates and revenue.
- Perform monthly expense trend and budget vs. actual analyses for review with management and key personnel, including variance explanations and highlighting issues and recommendations.
- Understand the terms of each contract particularly as it pertains to the billing function but also to become familiar with the scope of work, cost allowability, milestones, funding, deliverables, and schedule.
- Assist in the preparation and processing of job set-up in Deltek Costpoint to match WBS structure.
- Understand and assist in requesting purchase orders for material and subcontractor costs and other job/project expenses.
- Participate in the preparation of customer invoicing complete with appropriate back-up and approvals.
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of the customer invoicing files including maintaining electronic filing for all billing related documents.
- Responsible for job close-out tasks including a thorough review of historical cost data to ensure proper cost coding, compliance with contract and inclusion of all job costs.
- Responsible for monthly Estimate at Completion (EAC) process in support of Project Managers.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must have strong knowledge of general accounting theories, principles, and practices with a solid knowledge of Government accounting.
- Working knowledge and understanding of legal documentation including contracts.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations.
- Superior organizational and time management skills and extreme attention to detail.
- Self-starter, highly motivated, able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure and changing priorities.
- Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work in an Alaska Native Corporation multi-business environment.
Who is Brice Environmental Services looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of ten to twenty years of Project Controls experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred; experience in lieu of education will be taken into consideration.
- Experience in the following areas is required:
- Deltek Cost Point software
- DCAA and DCMA government contracting
- MS Excel and MS Word
- Electronic invoicing systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting environmental construction and environmental projects for federal contracts is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and FAR/DFARs is preferred.
- Experience with scheduling software like MS Project, Primavera and Smartsheets is preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Brice Environmental Services has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. At times, work is performed outside of the office at indoor and outdoor job sites. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes, and occasional overtime for immediate field support or bid processing may be necessary.
