Job Description:Job Title: Senior Project Accountant
Reports To: Accounting Manager - Project Accounting
FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $95,000 - $105,000 AnnuallyKey Responsibilities- Prepare and review funder billings to ensure accuracy and compliance with grant agreements and Uniform Guidance requirements.
- Monitor grant expenditures and project cash flow to ensure compliance with funding restrictions and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with Program Managers to analyze financial performance and conduct detailed budget-to-actual analysis for grants and projects.
- Review and approve multi-funded transactions across restricted and unrestricted funding sources and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
- Prepare and review journal entries related to grant reallocations, reconciliations, and funding adjustments.
- Analyze financial activity and ensure proper allocation of costs across multiple funding sources.
- Generate and review financial reports for internal leadership and external funders.
- Assist with preparation of documentation for annual financial audits, grant audits, and compliance reviews.
- Provide guidance and training to program staff on grant financial management and compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve grant accounting processes and financial reporting workflows.
- Maintain strong working relationships with program teams, funders, and internal finance staff.
- Participate in ad-hoc analyses, special projects, and process improvement initiatives.
Required QualificationsEducation & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or grant-funded environments.
- Significant experience with fund accounting and multi-source grant funding.
- Experience with enterprise accounting systems; Workday Financial Management preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce.
