Full Job Description
The Dangerous Goods (DG) team is looking for a motivated Senior Program Manager with strong regulatory experience, operational knowledge, logistics experience, and a hands-on passion to dive deep into processes that support Amazon's growth in a safe environment for customers, partners, and associates.

Working across procurement, transportation services, delivery experience, returns and re-commerce, technology, storage, legal, public policy, and other relevant internal teams on a global scale, this Senior Program Manager will ensure the safety of our associates and transportation partners by delivering innovative solutions for the safe and compliant transportation of DG, redefining industry best practices and standards, and safely enabling an ever-changing borderless business model.

This Senior Program Manager will plan and execute DG policies, controls, and processes to ensure the safe and compliant transportation of DG across a global supply chain. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, and regulators, this role will drive safety and compliance across customer deliveries and reverse logistics, enable new selection, and expand business and transportation models. This Senior Program Manager will develop accurate, relevant, metric-driven analysis to foster continuous improvement and step-function innovation that enhances our internal and external customer experience.

Candidates must be based in one of the corporate locations listed in the requisition.

Candidates must be able to travel at least 25% of the time.

Key job responsibilities
• Drive continuous improvement projects across global teams, ensuring Amazon Network Fulfillment (AFN) leads the industry in transportation safety and compliance.
• Manage a portfolio of projects aimed at building a best-in-class Dangerous Goods transportation system.
• Convert large and complex projects into manageable pieces to deliver iterative improvements while focusing on longer-term, large-scale deliverables.
• Build collaborative relationships with leaders across regions, departments, and business units.
• Refine existing program processes to more efficiently track and prioritize issues, enabling the team to scale its work.
• Anticipate project bottlenecks, manage escalations, make tradeoffs, and balance business needs versus operational or technical constraints.

A day in the life

This role works to transform how Amazon safely transports dangerous goods across its global supply chain. You'll leverage continuous improvement and metric-driven analysis to advance transportation safety, classification systems, and compliant transshipment processes across Amazon Network Fulfillment (AFN) and its transportation partners. You'll define program strategy with business owners, build relationships across regions and business units, and communicate regularly with senior leadership on project risks, escalations, and tradeoffs as a subject matter expert in dangerous goods transportation.

The Dangerous Goods team ensures the safety of our Customers, associates and carrier partners by delivering innovative solutions to ensure dangerous goods compliance, redefining industry best practices and standards, and safely enabling an ever-changing borderless business model.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent

- 5+ years of program or project management experience

- Experience in verbal and written communication for executive level leaders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

- Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent

- Master's degree or equivalent

- IMDG, 49CFR, ICAO/IATA, or region specific accreditation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
