Senior Program Management Specialist

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Program Management Specialist (Level 5) to join the Mission Operations Portfolio area which designs, build, test, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers in Herndon, VA!

The selected candidate will perform a multi-disciplined range of management activities supporting the customer. This position will require the candidate to support the management and operational needs of software development, hardware, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of multiple projects. The candidate will meet regularly with the customer to ensure issues are promptly resolved, to enhance communications and establish strategic relationships. Lastly, the successful candidate will team with program engineering personnel to design, deploy, and maintain effective cost-efficient Audio Visual (A/V) solutions that support the customer's needs.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Manage oversight and execution of the program, ensuring that all developments, enhancements and upgrades of the A/V system solutions adhere to the customer requirements and regulations as well as Boeing policies and procedures. Oversee the management and operational needs of development and technical support for any customer requests. Enforce Boeing Program Management Best Practices throughout the program life cycle
  • Contribute to leading a diverse team of A/V engineers, service technicians, and IT engineers to deliver development solutions
  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology
  • Interact with the customer regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts
  • Utilizing an agile product centric methodology, manage the development activities related to presentation and visualization capabilities
  • Meet regularly with the customer to ensure issues are promptly resolved, to enhance communications and establish strategic relationships
  • Conduct Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) with government personal as required; ensure that TEMs address reports and products generated by the program, along with other necessary tasking and topics
  • Contribute to the overall project strategy and manage complex challenges and changes in project scope
  • Advice and provides recommendations on candidates for employment, assist with performance evaluation feedback for assigned staff and is responsible for the application of company policies. Mentor, lead, and train others


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI with CI or FS Poly Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI or FS polygraph
  • Experience in a role that requires strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively brief and collaborate with various stakeholders, including management, program offices, and military personnel
  • Experience as a self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills, and a focus on translating technically complex issues into simple, easy to understand concepts
  • Experience developing, documenting and implementing processes


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • PMP certification
  • 5+ years of experience in A/V resource allocation, project costing, deliverable tracking, schedule and financial data monitoring, and reporting
  • 5+ years of experience in writing and editing documentation and deliverables
  • 5+ years of experience working within multi-disciplined teams to resolve business impacting issues
  • 5+ years of experience reviewing and proposing the Integrated Program Baseline (or resource loaded schedule) to the government
  • 3+ years of experience in Agile Methodologies
  • Experience with Microsoft Project
  • Proposal experience as Capture Manager, Section Lead, or author
