A senior-level governance role at Vergys requires consultants to act as strategic advisors to federal executives while actively shaping the trajectory of an information governance program. Core responsibilities include the following:

Responsibilities and Daily Tasks:

  • Board Creation & Management: Architect, establish, and facilitate federal data governance boards, steering committees, and working groups from inception to full maturity.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of mid-level Program Analysts, ensuring high-quality service delivery, aligning their daily tasks with client priorities, and fostering their professional development within the firm.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement enterprise-wide governance charters, frameworks, and operating models that align with federal mandates and client mission objectives.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Drive consensus among cross-functional federal executives, data owners, and technical stakeholders to overcome resistance and ensure active board participation.
  • Program Oversight: Direct the information governance program's overall strategy and operations, overseeing coordination, data stewardship, and operational analysis.
  • Policy Development: Lead the creation of governance operating materials, including SOPs, business cases, strategic guidance, and high-level decision-support documentation.
  • Executive Reporting: Prepare and deliver concise, executive-level briefings to federal leadership on program maturity, critical risks, strategic recommendations, and board outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Perform current-state and future-state assessments of enterprise operations and implement strategic improvements that elevate overall governance maturity.

Required Skills and Qualifications: Successful candidates should demonstrate high professionalism, a commitment to quality, and strong initiative and leadership while meeting the following qualifications and requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Business Administration, Data/Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience supporting information governance, data strategy, or program operations in a federal or large enterprise environment.
  • Direct, proven experience designing, launching, and managing federal governance boards, councils, or executive steering committees.
  • Team Management Experience: Proven track record of directly managing, guiding, and mentoring teams of consultants or analysts in a federal contracting environment.
  • Strong executive presence and exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence federal leadership and drive alignment across siloed departments.

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing operational data stewardship across reference data domains (e.g., application, product, organizational, and facility data).
  • Experience preparing and delivering executive-level reports and briefings on status, risks, and recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); comfort working across current and legacy data systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance or suitability determination; U.S. citizenship may be required.
