Within WSP's Resources sector, our geochemistry teams support mining clients across Canada and internationally by delivering high-quality characterization, modelling, and environmental solutions. Our work helps clients make informed decisions throughout the mine life cycle while meeting regulatory expectations and advancing responsible resource development.

As a Senior Geochemist based in Montréal, you will lead and deliver geochemistry projects, act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, and mentor junior professionals while collaborating with multidisciplinary and sometimes international project teams.

Your Impact
  • Lead and review scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for mining geochemistry projects.
  • Develop and oversee project plans, evaluation approaches, and technical deliverables.
  • Design, plan, and supervise field programs focused on geochemical characterization of mining materials.
  • Analyze, interpret, and quality-control measured and modelled geochemical data.
  • Develop, calibrate, and validate geochemical and water quality models.
  • Integrate geochemical results into large-scale environmental assessments and management plans for acid rock drainage and metal leaching.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Maintain strong client relationships while promoting a proactive health and safety culture.

  • University degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., geochemistry, geology, earth sciences).
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental geochemistry, preferably in consulting and/or the mining industry.
  • Professional designation in Québec (OGQ or OIQ) or eligibility for Québec recognition.
  • Demonstrated expertise in acid mine drainage, metal leaching, and geochemical evaluation of mining materials.
  • Proven experience in geochemical sampling design, data interpretation, and modelling using industry-standard software (e.g., GoldSim, PhreeqC, MIN3P, CE-QUAL-W2, GWB).
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and mentoring skills, with the ability to work in diverse and multidisciplinary teams.

Compensation

Grade 7 - Tier 2 (Professional)
Compensation:
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $104,100 - $138,000
MB & ON: $95,000 - $130,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $94,100 - $124,900
