Position Summary

The Senior Production Underwriter is responsible for driving profitable growth through new business development, relationship management, underwriting excellence, and team leadership. This role serves as a trusted advisor to retail agents, carrier partners, and internal stakeholders while developing and managing a profitable book of business. The Senior Production Underwriter is expected to blend strong sales and marketing capabilities with technical underwriting expertise in the Wholesale space and leadership skills to achieve revenue goals and maintain underwriting profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Sales & Marketing (45%)

Business Development & Relationship Management
  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plans to identify and acquire new clients while strengthening relationships with existing agency partners.
  • Conduct agency visits, networking activities, and business development meetings to increase market visibility and generate submission opportunities.
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach that provides value-added solutions to agents and brokers.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, trade events, and networking functions.
  • Build and maintain a profitable, diversified, and high-quality book of business.
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with carrier partners to promote underwriting expertise and organizational professionalism.
  • Collaborate with internal business units to identify referral opportunities and deliver comprehensive solutions to clients.


2. Underwriting & Broking (40%)

Technical Underwriting Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, analyze, and underwrite new and renewal business submissions.
  • Prepare timely, accurate, and professional quotes and proposals within established industry standards
  • Maintain expertise regarding carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, and market conditions.
  • Gather and assess underwriting information necessary for quoting, binding, and issuing coverage.
  • Review coverage requirements, pricing structures, terms, and policy conditions.
  • Negotiate pricing, coverage, and terms with carriers and retail agents.
  • Prepare comprehensive market submissions that demonstrate underwriting expertise.
  • Provide coverage consultation and guidance to agents regarding insurance solutions and policy differences.
  • Review loss control recommendations and evaluate risk quality.
  • Maintain complete and accurate underwriting documentation to ensure compliance and minimize Errors & Omissions (E&O) exposure.
  • Stay current on industry trends, underwriting practices, market conditions, licensing requirements, and professional designations.
  • Utilize carrier authority, capacity, and aggregate management strategies responsibly and profitably.


3. Leadership & Team Management (15%)

Team Leadership
  • Delegate servicing, quoting, and administrative responsibilities effectively.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and promotion activities as needed.
  • Manage employee performance through coaching, accountability, recognition, and development.
  • Establish team goals, performance standards, and success metrics in partnership with Regional Leadership.
  • Prioritize and manage workflow and assignments for team members.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Train, mentor, and develop associates in technical underwriting skills, processes, and competencies.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and lead by example.
  • Ensure service standards are consistently achieved through effective supervision and delegation.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of Wholesale insurance underwriting and brokerage experience.
  • Proven track record of successful production underwriting and business development.

Pay Details:

The base compensation range for this position is $160,000 - $175,000. This range reflects Acrisure's good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.

Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
