Senior Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the assembly production schedule within an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) manufacturing environment. The role aligns customer orders, engineering releases, material availability, and plant capacity to meet delivery commitments.
This role serves as the primary planning liaison between the Site Master Scheduler, Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, and the Fabrication Planning team, translating complex project requirements into executable shop-floor schedules.
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssembly Scheduling & Execution- Translate the SIOP-driven master schedule into a rolling 12-week production plan aligned with plant capacity, ramp-ups, customer orders, engineering releases, and lead times.
- Monitor shop-floor progress and schedule adherence, adjusting priorities as needed.
- Own performance metrics, including schedule attainment, on-time delivery to customer commitments, and WIP levels.
- Maintain accurate scheduling data within Epicor.
- Recommend / Propose plans & actions to mitigate at-risk delivery commitments.
Master Schedule Alignment- Act as the primary link between the Site Master Scheduler and shop-floor execution.
- Manage the schedule impact of engineering changes (ECOs), customer revisions, and supply disruptions, and coordinate master schedule updates with the Master Scheduler and other stakeholders.
Capacity & Constraint Management- Proactively identify bottlenecks and constraints (capacity, material, fabricated components, and engineering releases) and coordinate cross-functional actions to resolve them.
- Escalate risks to delivery commitments and recommend recovery or mitigation plans when needed.
Cross-Functional Planning & Communication- Coordinate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, Quality, and Project Management to align design releases, material availability, and manufacturing execution.
- Lead daily and weekly production scheduling reviews with production supervisors, PMO, and the fabrication team.
Continuous Improvement- Identify opportunities to improve assembly flow, resource utilization, schedule adherence, and planning processes.
- Support and Drive the development and standardization of production planning and scheduling processes.
- Mentor and develop production coordinators as the team grows.
Required Skills and Experience- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Advanced ERP/MRP proficiency with a strong understanding of BOM structures, routings, master scheduling, and capacity planning.
- Experience coordinating across Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Manufacturing.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and production scheduling tools.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in an Engineer-to-Order (ETO), Make-to-Order (MTO), or project-based manufacturing environment.
- Experience with SIOP/S&OP and master scheduling processes.
- Epicor ERP experience.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
