Full Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Data Platform team in San Mateo, CA. Guidewire's Data Platform team is responsible for building an integrated, scalable, secure, and robust data platform that helps both our internal development teams and our customers leverage data easily. The platform supports our analytics, data science, and data management applications, and is integrated foundationally across our broad product portfolio to usher in a new era of analytic-driven experiences, services, and insurance product offerings for the P&C industry. In this role, you will focus on the data access and integration experience of the Data Platform. You will work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment to guide products from conception to launch, connecting the technical and business worlds and breaking complex problems into steps that drive product development at speed. This is an opportunity not just to build products, but to help transform an industry with data- and analytics-driven technology - and increasingly AI-driven capabilities - at the center. What you will do • Act as the authoritative product owner for one or more data access and integration areas - leading discussions to a clear recommendation or decision, not just facilitating them. • Lead one or more engineering teams through the ideation, technical development, and launch of innovative capabilities for data ingestion, access, and integration. • Write clear product requirements from a user/persona and functional perspective - defining scope, supported patterns, and acceptance criteria - and translate them into artifacts engineering can build against. • Define and ship AI-driven product capabilities (e.g., agentic AI experiences, MCP-based integrations etc) that make data access and integration smarter and more self-service. • Own the product interface between the Data Platform and consuming teams - driving alignment on integration contracts, dependencies, and scope across multiple stakeholder teams, and ensuring features are delivered on time. • Drive feature-level design sessions with engineers, architects, and UX. • Establish a shared vision across the company by building consensus on priorities that lead to product execution. • Define and analyze the metrics that inform product success. • Be the product expert who helps customers, QA, support, sales, and other groups with questions about our cloud-native data infrastructure and products. • Triage, prioritize, and respond to customer issues and escalations. • Develop a deep understanding of customers' needs, goals, and challenges to ensure successful adoption of Data Access products. • Drive initiatives to closure independently - setting direction, managing dependencies, proactively communicating status and risks, and following through on commitments. What we are looking for • 5+ years of product management experience. • 5+ years working with the technical architecture of cloud solutions and security. • Working technical fluency with distributed data systems - data replication/CDC, streaming (e.g., Kafka), table formats (e.g., Apache Iceberg), data cataloging, microservices, and cloud data infrastructure on AWS - sufficient to independently reason about design trade-offs and author correct requirements. • Solid understanding of the AWS credential and access model - IAM roles, policies, principals, and scoped/temporary credentials - enough to reason about secure data access and access-control designs across the platform. • Ability to quickly ramp up unfamiliar technical concepts and translate them into product requirements at the right level of abstraction (functional/persona level, not implementation detail). • Strong preference for candidates with experience defining and shipping AI-related product features - such as agentic AI, LLM-powered capabilities, or MCP (Model Context Protocol) server integrations. • Comfort using AI tools in the software development lifecycle, including spec-driven development and AI-assisted approaches to requirements, design, and delivery. • Proven ability to manage complex initiatives and drive them to closure with limited supervision. • Driven, focused, and quick to take ownership of your work; adaptable, resilient, and able to thrive in ambiguity. • Comfortable with data ingestion, cataloging, integration, and enrichment concepts, and able to connect how data relates to end-user analytics requirements and applications. • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to keep stakeholders aligned and informed across multiple teams. What's in it for you The people we employ give their all, and in return, we offer flexibility wherever we can, such as: • Flexible work environment • Health and Wellness benefits • Paid time off programs including volunteer time off • Market-competitive pay and incentive programs • Continual development and internal career growth opportunities • All new hires participate in our in-person orientation process to ensure a strong start at Guidewire. At Guidewire, you'll help transform the way the world's P&C insurers do business, contributing to our wider mission of delivering innovation, efficiency, and measurable value for our customers and communities The US base salary range for this full-time position is $148,000 - $254,000. Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan. In addition, some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan, commissions, and/or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, company and employee performance.
