Job Description:

The Senior Producer, Production Services will help develop, produce, and deliver a wide range of content for National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild, social platforms, and nonlinear streaming platforms, including Disney+ and Hulu. This role is ideal for a highly creative, collaborative producer who can bring strong storytelling instincts, production expertise, and a sharp editorial eye to original content, mashups, updates, reversions, compilations, cutdowns, and pop-up shows.

This person will manage projects from concept through final delivery, partnering closely with internal teams, production management, vendors, talent, editors, researchers, and creative leads to bring content to life across linear, social, and streaming platforms. The Senior Producer will also help extend the reach of National Geographic programming through social-first content pitching and development.

Responsibilities
  • Research, develop, and pitch creative show concepts that align with National Geographic Content's creative vision.
  • Produce greenlit content from pre-production through post-production, ensuring projects stay on schedule and meet creative, editorial, and delivery expectations.
  • Manage projects from development through final delivery, including research, pitch writing, field production, scripting, narration, post-production, audio mixes, and quality control.
  • Oversee the processing of third-party commissioned shows from vendor delivery through post-production for final delivery across linear broadcast and nonlinear streaming platforms.
  • Reversion acquired shows, create updates for existing content, cut programs to time, and support compilations, cutdowns, mashups, and other content formats.
  • Create and manage production and post-production schedules to ensure assigned shows are delivered on time.
  • Partner with Production Management to develop production budgets, hire crews, and identify potential filming locations.
  • Identify and consult subject matter experts, on-camera talent, narrators, recording studios, composers, and other creative partners as needed.
  • Direct original content in the field and guide creative execution throughout production.
  • Oversee the post-production process for assigned shows, including edits, scripts, narration records, original music, graphics, audio mixes, and final delivery.
  • Ensure all assigned programs meet NG Research, Standards & Practices, and quality control requirements.
  • Supervise an Associate Producer or Production Coordinator as a direct report or on a project basis, as needed.
  • Support Senior Producers, Executive Producers, and the Production Services Management team on additional creative projects as needed.


Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in nonfiction content production for a production company or network.
  • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to shape compelling content across platforms.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing deadlines and deliverables.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, cross-functional partners, and third-party vendors.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience creating and managing production budgets.
  • Demonstrated inclusive mindset and personal commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. Familiarity with editing systems and databases.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.


The hiring range for this position in Washington, D.C. is $123,700 to $170,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
