YOUR DAY TO DAY:
The Senior Procurement Specialist serves as a strategic supply chain partner to CPI EDB programs and functions. The role develops and executes sourcing and procurement solutions that balance customer and program requirements, cost, quality, delivery, compliance, and supply risk. Working with a high degree of independence, the position influences cross-functional decisions, strengthens supplier performance, and mentors less-experienced procurement professionals.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
- Partners with Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and develop executable sourcing solutions that support customer commitments and business objectives.
- Develops and executes sourcing strategies for assigned commodities and complex, high-value, or high-risk procurements, considering market conditions, supplier capacity, lead times, product lifecycle, obsolescence, single-source exposure, and total cost of ownership.
- Leads supplier selection, requests for quotation, bid evaluation, cost and price analysis, negotiations, and award recommendations; documents the business rationale for sourcing decisions.
- Prepares, issues, and manages purchase orders and complex agreements in accordance with company policies, delegated authority, contractual requirements, and applicable government regulations.
- Negotiates mutually beneficial terms and conditions, pricing, delivery, quality, and performance requirements while protecting CPI EDB interests and enabling program execution.
- Owns the cost, schedule, quality, and supply-risk performance of assigned procurements; anticipates constraints and leads cross-functional mitigation, recovery, and contingency plans.
- Leads supplier performance management and development, including business reviews, corrective actions, onsite visits, capacity assessments, and continuous-improvement activities.
- Identifies and qualifies new or alternate sources to strengthen competition, supply continuity, responsiveness, and technical capability.
- Supports proposals and new-business activities with responsive supplier engagement, defensible pricing, risk identification, and innovative supply-chain solutions.
- Uses ERP/MRP data, market intelligence, and supplier information to make timely decisions and communicate clear recommendations to stakeholders.
- Delivers measurable improvements in cost reduction or avoidance, supplier quality and delivery, lead time, working capital, and supply resilience.
- Builds trusted internal and external relationships, communicates issues transparently, and influences decisions across functions and organizational levels.
- Coaches and mentors less-experienced procurement professionals and may coordinate work or lead defined procurement initiatives.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant procurement, sourcing, supply-chain, or subcontract-management experience.
- Relevant professional certification, such as CPSM, CSCP, or CPIM, is preferred.
- Master's degree is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of procurement and supply-chain practices in a manufacturing or engineered-products environment.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex customer, program, and business requirements into practical sourcing and supplier solutions.
- Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skills, including experience with complex terms and conditions and mutually beneficial supplier agreements.
- In-depth knowledge of government-contracting procurement requirements, including FAR, DFARS, applicable contractual flow-downs, and small-business requirements.
- Proficiency in strategic sourcing, supplier-risk assessment, supplier performance management, and supplier development.
- Strong cost and price analysis skills, including the ability to evaluate total cost of ownership and develop fact-based recommendations.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and data analysis; ability to use information to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Strong project-management and prioritization skills, with the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to communicate clearly and influence stakeholders across functions and levels.
- Demonstrated ownership, sound judgment, adaptability, responsiveness, and constructive urgency.
- Ability to work effectively as an independent contributor and as a collaborative member or leader of cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor less-experienced procurement professionals.
- Ability to perform primarily sedentary work involving extended periods of sitting or standing and computer use.
- Ability to access manufacturing and other work areas as business needs require.
- Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed.
- This role requires access to export-controlled information, subject to the ITAR and EAR, for which the company will not pursue an export license/license exception. Must be a US person (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals) to be eligible for this role.
Salary Range $71,000 - $110,000 / year
