What You Will Enjoy Doing

Position Summary:

To be responsible for the procurement of commodities through the development and implementation of commodity strategies plans and the management of supplier relationship as well as for price negotiations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop, hone and execute new improved procurement strategies across all channels of purchasing.
  • Performs negotiations and determines most competitive solutions, using a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Develops strategic plans for assigned categories based on historical performance.
  • Continually develop expertise to support growth for new projects
  • Monitor macro trends in supplier and contract base and implement plans to react
  • Proficient in managing and / or leading multi-location / global projects
  • Facilitate vendor selection and negotiate agreements utilizing tools and processes such as RFP's, RFQ's and RFI's.
  • Address Quality issues with Suppliers to ensure quality meets or exceeds quality requirements and corrective actions are implemented immediately upon notification of any failure
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable new goods or services with users, vendors and others to determine cause of problem and take corrective and preventative action.
  • Tracks category performance and modifies plans in order to achieve targeted revenue or margin goals.
  • Manage vendor and customer relationships and assist in building effective partnerships
  • Effectively communicates the commodity strategy to senior leadership and other functional groups to get alignment throughout the organization
  • Understands the high level global implication of market condition changes and how these affect the plastics and resin commodity
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices, as necessary for the business with the supplier.
  • Conducts, evaluates, selects, and monitors new or existing vendor accounts.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.

• Cost Savings & Avoidance - Delivers measurable cost reductions and prevents unnecessary spend through strategic sourcing and vendor negotiations.
• Supplier Performance & Relationship Management - Maintains high standards for supplier delivery reliability and product quality, especially for key raw materials.
• Compliance & Risk Management - Percentage of spend under contract, policy adherence, and regulatory compliance.
• Spend Under Management - Portion of total organizational spend that is actively managed by the procurement team.

• 10+ years of overall experience
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant leadership and management experience, preferably in a sourcing or procurement role
• Strong business acumen with broad knowledge of sourcing, procurement, contracting, and supplier management processes, technologies, and systems
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• Relevant skills may also be demonstrated through a combination of college degree programs and/or professional certifications
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to drive value while maintaining positive supplier relationships
• Demonstrates high ethical and moral standards in all business dealings
• Proven track record of responsible resource management and cost optimization
