Senior Process Engineer (PE) with extensive experience in water and wastewater treatment process design to lead high-impact municipal and utility projects across Florida and beyond. Position SummaryThe Senior Process Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for the planning, evaluation, and process design of complex water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role leads process modeling, treatment optimization, equipment selection, pilot testing, regulatory coordination, and development of design documents for municipal and industrial infrastructure projects.
Working closely with project managers, discipline leads, and clients, the Senior Process Engineer provides technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle while ensuring designs are innovative, practical, and compliant with regulatory requirements. This individual also contributes to business development, proposal strategy, and the technical development of junior engineering staff.
Essential Job Functions- Lead the process planning and design of municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities, including conventional treatment, biological nutrient removal, membrane systems, advanced oxidation, disinfection, residuals management, potable reuse, and emerging contaminant treatment such as PFAS, GAC, and ion exchange.
- Serve as the technical lead on multidisciplinary design teams from planning through construction support.
- Prepare and review process calculations, hydraulic analyses, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, design criteria, equipment sizing, technical memoranda, specifications, and engineering reports.
- Perform and oversee process modeling, treatment evaluations, and technology selection using industry-standard software and engineering principles.
- Lead pilot studies, facility assessments, condition evaluations, startup assistance, commissioning activities, and operational optimization efforts.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, and instrumentation & controls engineers to develop integrated treatment facility designs.
- Provide technical quality assurance and quality control reviews for engineering deliverables.
- Collaborate directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to develop practical, cost-effective treatment solutions.
- Support project managers with scope development, budgeting, scheduling, technical risk management, and project execution.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, technical interviews, project pursuits, and strategic business development efforts.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff through project guidance, design reviews, and professional development.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in water and wastewater treatment process engineering.
- Demonstrated experience leading the process design of municipal treatment facilities through planning, detailed design, and construction.
- Strong background in advanced treatment technologies including membrane filtration, biological treatment, nutrient removal, PFAS treatment, GAC, ion exchange, or potable reuse.
- Experience preparing process calculations, hydraulic modeling, technical reports, equipment selection, and engineering specifications.
- Working knowledge of state and federal drinking water and wastewater regulations.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong client relationship, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience supporting proposals, technical approaches, and project pursuits is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

- Sit, stand, and use standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Walk on uneven terrain and navigate active construction sites safely.
