Job DescriptionThe Senior Process Engineer will be a key team member at our New London manufacturing facility as we continue to improve production output by instilling World Class Manufacturing concepts. This role will be hands-on in process development, process controls, process layout and ergonomic design. You will be responsible for all aspects of the process and equipment, working closely with the maintenance team and extrusion experts to drive continuous improvement efforts in production. You will lead root cause analysis, process documentation, and implementation of corrective actions to solve problems using professional engineering tools and methods (i.e. Lean, 6s, RCA, etc.).
The Senior Process Engineer is a people manager role that will have direct reporting responsibilities for shift process technicians and will have dotted-line responsibility for technical team leads. You will work with new state-of-the-art equipment and robotics, while also investigating opportunities to improve older equipment. You will lead the implementation of capital improvement projects and drive the development of capable and robust processes. Responsibilities- Actively support the improvement of Health and Safety practices throughout the business.
- Develop and implement robust advanced manufacturing processes and process improvements
- Develop process documentation including one point lessons, visual aides, and work instructions
- Develop, lead, and execute data-driven process improvement projects focused on OEE and safety
- Apply engineering best practices across the site.
- Collaborate with NPD function to ensure that customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements of the products, services and verification documentation are determined, understood, and consistently meet the expectations of internal and external stakeholders in a robust and timely manner.
- Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders along with fault-finding, resolution and problem solving of issues arising during design, build and use.
- Deliver all pre-manufacturing engineering processes in full, defining the rules for design, manufacture and assembly to support all aspects of new product launch.
- Oversee prototype builds, including the manufacture or assembly of components, systems and/or sub-systems.
- Produce, update and maintain technical data, including reports, engineering change notifications, test procedures, and all drawings and specifications.
- Support the cross-functional creation, update, review and approval of process creation and development documentation, such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Control Plans.
- Manage activities to support the achievement of departmental deliverables, including generating 3D CAD models, building BOM's routings in EFAC's, General Assembly drawings, and the procurement of manufacturing tooling and fixturing to verify and validate new product designs and processes.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for industrial validation, ensuring processes are applied consistently across the manufacturing areas.
- Training, development and mentoring of colleagues within area of expertise.
- Lead shift process technicians directly and provide technical guidance to technical team leads indirectly.
Qualifications- Minimum 5 years' experience within Manufacturing and / or Process Engineering, Machine build and test environment.
- Project Management experience.
- Ability to lead and work in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment
- Knowledge of product launch processes and experience in the implementation of the Core Quality Tools: Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools and demonstrated application required
- Working experience within a technical product production environment.
- Experience with CAD and the ability to interpret technical drawings and tolerancing, including experience in GD&T.
- Analytical thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, as well as the drive to learn and develop own skills.
Preferred Requirements - Twin screen profile extrusion experience
- Composite manufacturing experience
- Polyethylene (PE) experience
- Experience in PLC and/or DCS control system
- Lean Manufacturing certification and Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- Understanding of key maintenance indicators and foundations of a strong preventive and predictive system
Additional InformationFortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $80,000 USD - $126,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
