Full Job Description
Resinall Corp, an Ergon company currently has an opening for a Senior Process Engineer at our Hattiesburg, MS location. The Senior Process Engineer will improve overall process efficiency for the manufacturing operation. This position implements process changes for the purpose of optimizing output and improving plant efficiency based on lab studies, SPC data, lab results, and other historical data. The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for working with Manufacturing to eliminate or reduce process issues, improve quality, and support continuous improvement efforts. They must be knowledgeable of raw materials, analytical techniques, lab equipment, and manufacturing equipment, and must be able to educate employees on processing issues while helping to improve overall process flow. This position will report to the Process Technical Services Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:

The duties of the Senior Process Engineer include, but are not limited to, the items outlined below:
  • Assist with conducting process hazard analysis.
  • Conduct Process Overview Training.
  • Review SPC and SQC data to recommend process changes.
  • Work to improve formulas, streamline production, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor throughput and kettle utilization efficiency.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize unit operations with respect to safety, quality, environment and economics.
  • Determine most effective arrangement of unit operations and equipment.
  • Initiate changes in manufacturing processes and formulas.
  • Troubleshoot problems with production batches.
  • Coordinate re-occurring meetings with Area Supervisors to focus on continuous improvement and areas of concern.
  • Develop plans for recycling RMV, off specification, and rework material into production batches.
  • Study and document batch times and recommend improvements.
  • Be available during off-hours for technical assistance.
  • Recommend process equipment changes and evaluate potential equipment modifications.
  • Design equipment and develop processes for manufacturing.
  • Provide cost estimates and justification for process improvement projects. Manage the installation and start-up for these projects.
  • Serve as a coordinator to bring people together skilled in engineering, product chemistry, maintenance, and manufacturing to effectively solve issues that interfere with productivity and to find new work methods to improve productivity.
  • Assist with updating Manufacturing Procedures.
  • Apply principles of chemical engineering to solve safety and environmental concerns.
  • Taking an active role in the Management of Change Process (MOC).
  • Manage co-op program for process engineering, including direct supervision of co-op's.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements:

This position requires a combination of office-based work and regular activity throughout an industrial plant, including sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively, perform routine computer and hands-on tasks, recognize safety warnings, and respond appropriately during emergencies.

The role requires independent judgment, adaptability, organization, technical and mathematical aptitude, and the ability to communicate, train, and coordinate effectively with others.

Work may occur in areas with temperature extremes, noise, dust, limited ventilation, and potentially hazardous materials. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn, and all established safety procedures must be followed. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
