Role PurposeThe Senior Process Engineer will lead development, optimization, and scale-up of boule manufacturing processes within the Canton facility. This role supports high-value specialty glass product lines and focuses on solving complex process challenges, particularly those involving defect mechanisms, process variability, and manufacturability at scale.
The position operates across manufacturing, engineering, and research, requiring a combination of hands-on process knowledge, structured problem solving, and the ability to lead cross-functional technical efforts to deliver measurable business impact.
This role is eligible for remote or hybrid work based on the nature of the responsibilities and scope of impact.
Key Responsibilities- Lead development and implementation of boule forming and thermal processes, including custom or novel approaches to address product- and defect-specific challenges
- Drive structured root cause investigations into complex or previously unknown defect modes, including selection of appropriate characterization methods and identification of underlying failure mechanisms
- Develop and implement process solutions that significantly reduce defect rates, improve yield, and enhance product quality for high-value product lines
- Lead cross-functional teams (materials science, modeling, manufacturing, equipment engineering) to evaluate technical approaches, build alignment, and drive execution
- Support process scale-up and equipment transitions, including capacity increases and changes in product size or format
- Evaluate new processing approaches (e.g., deformation techniques, pressure-based processing, or containment design concepts) and quantify technical and economic feasibility
- Develop yield models, cost analyses, and process tracking tools to support data-driven decision making and quantify business impact
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support in a high-value, quality-driven manufacturing environment, balancing technical performance with operational constraints
Experiences/Education - Required- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or related field)
- 8-12 years of experience in specialty glass, advanced materials, or comparable high-value manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Development of custom or product-specific manufacturing processes
- Leading root cause investigations for complex or unknown defect modes
- Supporting manufacturing scale-up, equipment changes, or process transitions
- Strong analytical capability and experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies
- Proven ability to work effectively across functions and influence technical decisions
- US Citizenship required

Experiences/Education - Desired- Experience with specialty glass forming (e.g., ULE®), boule processing, or similar high-temperature thermal processes
- Track record of delivering measurable improvements on high-value product lines (e.g., yield, cost, quality, or returns reduction)
- Experience selecting and applying characterization techniques to understand defect mechanisms
- Demonstrated ability to build and use yield models, cost models, or process tracking tools to support decisions
- Experience working across R&D and manufacturing interfaces, translating concepts into production-ready processes
- Familiarity with structured methodologies such as hypothesis-driven problem solving or Kepner-Tregoe
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $114,457.00 - $157,379.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
