Full Job Description
RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance may be available CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: No CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the Time Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Engineer. This position is located in Clearfield, UT and supports the ICBM Sustainment Team. What you’ll get to do: • Participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements definition, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to our customers. • Deploy software applications to production environments; monitor system performance; identify and implement improvements; maintain existing software applications and systems; and respond to and resolve production issues in a timely manner. • Maintain existing software and environments in accordance with disciplined engineering practices, sustaining applications, databases, and interfaces in compliance with MIL-STD-31000C, Technical Data Packages, and applicable AF/DoD standards. • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of mission critical software solutions actively used by a government customer. • Help define and implement automated test strategies (unit, integration, and regression where applicable). • Work independently as a self starter, demonstrating initiative and the ability to complete tasking with minimal oversight. • Integrate software capabilities with hardware components in a complex, mission critical environment. Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or PhD with 4 years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • Experience with a variety of programming languages, including C#, JavaScript, and Python. • Full stack development experience, including both frontend and backend solutions. • Experience with hardware–software integration. • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), including developing queries, stored procedures, and functions. • Experience working with software version control systems (e.g., Git). • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. • U.S. citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: • Active DoD Secret clearance. • Demonstrated ability to interpret and maintain existing code, including legacy applications (sustainment/maintenance). • Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent. • Experience with C/C++. • Experience with server-side development (e.g., RESTful APIs, services). • Experience with GUI design and user experience (UX) best practices. • Experience developing technical documentation, including software version descriptions and user/administration guides. Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
