What Your Job Will Be LikeThe Primary Standards Laboratory (PSL) is seeking an Engineering and Operations Technologist to support the Temperature Calibration Laboratory.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Perform onsite calibrations of temperature-controlled equipment, including ovens, furnaces, environmental chambers, and other thermal-processing devices. Support secondary temperature calibrations performed within the PSL.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite.
Salary Range$74,700 - $123,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- High school diploma or general equivalency, plus three years of equivalent experience; or equivalent relevant education.
- Experience and demonstrated skill in troubleshooting systems/equipment
- Computer skills commensurate with the duties listed herein including the Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Qualifications We Desire- Experience operating thermal chambers
- Experience calibrating thermal chambers
- Experience working in a calibration laboratory
- Working knowledge of temperature sensor fundamentals (e.g., thermocouples and RDs)
About Our TeamThe Primary Standards Lab (PSL) is an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory providing metrology support to the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Calibrations supported by the PSL include electrical, microwave, flow, acceleration, shock, humidity, leaks, vacuum, radiation, optics, temperature, mass and dimensional measurement. The PSL maintains a wide variety of measurement expertise and consults on technical problems, calibrates reference standards, conducts research and development on measurement science and assists in the technical mentorship of the DOE/NNSA Nuclear Weapons Complex contractor standards laboratories. The overall calibration program is accredited by the NIST National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program.
