POSITION PURPOSE

Performs detailed quantitative and qualitative credit analysis and underwriting for commercial loan requests. Works closely with commercial lending officers to understand and measure the risks associated with both new and existing client relationships and to create loan structures to mitigate these risks. Prepares in-depth written presentations summarizing loan opportunities with minimal turn-around times. Oversee other portfolio managers in the region or area as assigned, including but not limited to clear communication of expectations of overall department performance both individually and collectively.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Analyzes client-specific financial statements, spreads, and ratios as well as broader industry and economic risks that could jeopardize loan repayment.


  • Engage in consultative dialogue with borrowers and loan officers to review credit issues and obtain additional information, including outside calls as required.


  • Structures loans within policy and to effectively mitigate risk.
  • Prepare credit memorandums that summarize lending opportunities, the associated risks, and the proposed loan structure.


  • Identify high-risk credit situations and take appropriate action to ensure that the Bank is well protected.
  • Conduct or assist with presentations to loan approval authorities, including loan committee.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to the commercial credit analysts regarding analytical approaches and techniques.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has supervisory responsibility over the other PMs in the assigned region or area.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:College degree in business or equivalent and five plus years of related banking experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of a formal credit training program is desired.

Required Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience Required:

Skills/Abilities:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, industry data, and customer profiles. Extensive ability to produce both oral and written presentations.

Ability to apply concepts such as trends, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to create and interpret projections based on extrapolation of financial data.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Extensive ability to make sound credit decisions through the analysis of business financial statements, credit bureaus, industry information, and information derived from client interviews.

Ability to understand and interpret financial statements, tax returns, generally accepted accounting principles, and other business information.

Ability to make appropriate judgments and decisions with limited guidance.

Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently on projects of high complexity with minimal supervision.

Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and instill trust within the organization.

Ability to multitask is essential.
