We are looking for a Senior Portfolio Analyst, based in Alpharetta, O'Fallon or Toronto Your Team The Chief Technical Office (CTO) is responsible for working with technical functions including Pricing, Product Management, Underwriting Integrity, Reinsurance, Portfolio and Accumulation Steering including Catastrophe Management, and Risk Consulting to ensure we are building Technical Excellence across our North America region, and in alignment with the overall global approach.
The Impact You Will Have Reporting to the Regional Head of Portfolio Steering - North America, you will play a critical role in actively steering the portfolio for assigned Line(s) of Business, developing and executing Portfolio Steering strategies that ensure alignment with organizational goals and market conditions. This role focuses on navigating the insurance cycle independently, understanding portfolio dynamics in depth, and driving forward-looking decisions to improve portfolio quality, financial performance, and profitability. You will lead accountability discussions, drive strategic business improvement initiatives, and balances LoB-specific priorities with regional portfolio strategy.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Developing and executing the Portfolio Steering strategy for assigned Line(s) of Business, contributing to the forward-looking steering agenda to improve portfolio quality and profitability.
- Providing analytical insights and strategic recommendations to senior management, serving as a trusted advisor to support key initiatives and decision-making in alignment with corporate objectives.
- Conducting comprehensive data analysis to interpret complex financial and portfolio information and provide actionable insights.
- Understanding underlying trends, anticipating emerging risks, and translating analytics into strategic views that challenge assumptions and drive portfolio decisions.
- Actively challenging the LoB Head and functional partners on portfolio performance and direction, including questioning assumptions, probing off-track KPIs, and holding the LoB accountable for strategy and go-forward plans.
- Collaborating across stakeholders (Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Finance, Product) to drive aligned outcomes.
- Ensuring adherence to global standards and governance frameworks, including internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Developing proposals for improving the Allianz Commercial Operating Framework and ensuring alignment with industry regulations.
- Identifying strategic business improvement opportunities related to organization, business processes, and IT applications and leading the creation of project proposals, including cost/benefit analysis and resource planning.
- Managing communication between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clarity of requirements across functions.
- Sharing best practices and driving cross-functional collaboration, providing LoB-specific insight on portfolio direction.
- Acting as the day-to-day point of contact for portfolio steering, supporting continuous improvement across departmental teams.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Finance, and Product teams.
- Independently managing internal stakeholder relationships, providing timely and accurate portfolio information to support decision-making at a senior management level and supporting the management of external stakeholder relationships as needed.
What You'll Bring to the Role - A minimum of 5 years of portfolio management experience, including expertise in guiding and enhancing portfolio performance to align with organizational objectives;
- Property and Casualty insurance experience required;
- Ability to identify and implement improvements in business processes and organizational capabilities;
- Proficiency in analyzing complex data sets and provide actionable insights using Excel and Power BI;
- Strong analytical, numerical and adaptive problem solving skills, using logical and methodological approach;
- Ability to identify problems, evaluate solutions, and implement effective strategies;
- Project management skills, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and timely execution;
- Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback, resolve conflicts, and foster collaboration;
- Ability to lead initiatives, make strategic decisions, and drive organizational change;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with an ability to develop and positively influence key, strategic position holders across locations and functions; and
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Mathematics/Statistics/Finance and/or Actuarial background.

The annualized base pay range for this role in Alpharetta is $115,000 - $150,000. The annualized base pay range for this role O'Fallon is $101,000 - $135,000. The annualized base pay range for this role in Toronto is $116,000 - $165,000, with a target bonus of 15%. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
