SUMMARY OF DUTIES The mission is seeking to fill a Senior Political-Economic Officer position within the Political-Economic Program, as well as establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill similar officer positions that may become available following this selection process.
The Senior Political-Economic Officer supports the Mission's foreign policy and diplomacy objectives by providing expertise in political and economic analysis, government relations, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting research and analysis on political, economic, and innovation-related developments; developing and implementing advocacy initiatives; providing strategic advice and recommendations to management; and establishing and maintaining effective relationships with government officials and other key stakeholders.
AREA OF SELECTION This selection process is open to employees currently occupying an indeterminate or term position, including temporary employees, at the Consulate General of Canada in Dallas, who meet all the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS All essential qualifications will be assessed. Methods of assessments and screening of candidates may include but are not limited to: verification of credentials, resume and letters of presentation; interviews, exams and practical tests; presentations or other types of assessments.
Education This position requires:
- A Bachelor's degree or Undergraduate diploma from a legally recognized post-secondary institution in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Commerce, International Business, Law, Communications, Journalism, Sociology, Geography, or another field relevant to the position.

- An advanced proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in English.
Experience In order to perform the duties relevant to this job, the following experience is required.
- Five (5) years of cumulative experience in government, international relations, public policy, or advocacy-related work, including at least three (3) years of experience building and maintaining relationships with government officials and other stakeholders; conducting political, economic, or policy research and analysis; developing and implementing advocacy or stakeholder engagement strategies; preparing briefings and strategic advice; and coordinating meetings, events, or partnerships in support of organizational objectives.

Competency Dictionary ASSET QUALIFICATIONS Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Experience working with elected officials, government agencies, or political stakeholders.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Operational requirements will be assessed on a ``meet/does not meet`` basis and can be used to determine right fit of a candidate for the position.
- Hours of Work: Normal hours of work of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 37.5 hours per week.
- Overtime: Willingness to work overtime on short notice.
- Travel: This position may require limited occasional travel domestically and-or internationally.
