Full Job Description
STV is seeking a dynamic Plumbing Designer/Plumbing Engineering Specialist to join our team in the Boston, MA office. The Buildings Division provides design services to both public agencies and private corporations. Current projects include public transit, convention centers, and transportation maintenance facilities; municipal buildings such as public work facilities; and light commercial / retail. Other potential projects include correctional facilities, law enforcement, public health, and both K-12 and higher education buildings.

Key responsibilities will include the preparation of Plumbing designs, calculations, estimates, reports and specifications for building projects. Additional responsibilities will include site survey of existing conditions, construction punch lists and meeting with clients to discuss project matters and making recommendations when necessary based on the clients' needs.

Required Skills:
  • The ideal candidate will have skills with AutoCAD, REVIT, Hydraulic Calculations, specification writing, familiarity with applicable building codes, cost estimating and other plumbing engineering tasks.
  • LEED AP, CPD, or PE certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Assisting, Supervising or mentoring team members and delivering timely feedback and recognition to others.
  • Maintain strong client relations as it pertains to project deliver and repeat business.
  • Presenting technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences.


Required Experience:
  • Candidate will have an Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience and/or credential such as CPD (Certified in plumbing design).
  • Successful candidate will have a minimum of 10+ year's relevant experience designing wide variety of facilities for industrial, educational, institutional and governmental projects.
  • A candidate with strong REVIT skills is preferred.
  • The experience should be with all of the systems associated with Plumbing design including Sanitary, Storm, Domestic Water, Natural Gas.
  • Good planning, organizational and communications skills are necessary for success in this position.
  • Fire Protection Wet/Dry/Pre-action Sprinkler systems and Fire Standpipe systems would be a plus.
  • Focused experience with industrial projects, state agency projects, and/or local municipal projects is a plus.


Compensation Range:
$128,067.17 - $146,362.48
