Job Summary

This position will provide engineering and design support to the Mesa Energy Systems Engineering Group. The Senior Plumbing Designer will apply their engineering experience to support other Engineers and Team Members. This person will be presented with various projects in the commercial, industrial, government, healthcare and education markets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform various tasks assigned by Senior Engineers and the Engineering Manager/Director.
• Generate detailed schematics for Plumbing systems based on instructions and pre-established guidelines.
• Ability to independently conduct job site surveys with a complete understanding of the project's intent and be able to analyze and propose design solutions and installation sequencing.
• Ability to independently conduct audits and surveys as needed. Record identifying equipment function, tags, location, capacities, photos, etc. Trace piping and ductwork onto field notes.
• Convert field surveys into usable formats for plan and project development. Select the size of replacement/retrofit/new equipment to replace aged or obsolete equipment. Use AutoCAD to develop plans.
• Developing ability to independently recommend engineered plumbing solutions and designs, coordinate and quality check outsourced engineering resources, determine and process utility incentives, prepare permit documents for mechanical projects, perform load and energy calculations, and other engineering duties.
• Participate in the company's project improvement process by refining standard design practices, calculating spreadsheet templates, updating and establishing standard procedures and practices, and collecting supporting documentation for various projects to be references for future projects.
• Manage junior engineers and drafters.
• Respond to plan check comments.
• Redline markups for pipe routing and sizing for plumbing drafters.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred but not required.
• 8+ years of engineering and design experience.
• EIT/PE licensure a plus.
• Be proficient with Permitting submittal requirements in the Plumbing field.
• Computer savvy, with advanced knowledge of computers and handling software. Proficient with AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and other related software applications.
• Developed understanding of plumbing systems and specifications.
• Manage projects from Schematic Design though Construction.
• Water heater sizing for storage and instantaneous gas and electric systems (experience with self contained and split system heat pumps water heater preferred).
• Medical gas experience preferred.
• Experience with OSHPD/HCAI.

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range: $120,000 - 150,000 per year
