About the Role

The Township of Oro-Medonte is seeking applicants to fill the up to 14-month full-time contract position of Senior Planner. Reporting to the Manager, Planning Services, the Senior Planner will be responsible for providing advice and interpretation associated with the processing of planning and development applications in The Township of Oro-Medonte as it relates to the Official Plan and Zoning By-Law.

Highlights of key responsibilities include:

  • Act as Secretary-Treasurer for the Development Services Committee;
  • Provide guidance and information to developers, citizens, agencies, and other stakeholders regarding the Township of Oro-Medonte planning process, official plan policies, zoning by-law provisions, approved Council policies, and implementation mechanisms;


  • Process and analyze development applications, conducts required site visits, prepare and present planning presentations at public meetings, and prepare related Planning reports for Committee and Council agendas;


  • Coordinates the evaluation, refinement and implementation of development proposals. This position will be assigned to a higher proportion of applications that are of considerable scale and complexity


  • Conduct research and prepare special policy studies regarding long range land use, secondary plans, and special study areas;


  • Monitor Provincial initiatives in planning policy and report to the Manager and Director as required;


  • Oversee the circulation of assigned Planning applications and collections of comments from the Senior Management Team and all applicable outside agencies; and responsible for the compilation of data for Manager/Director's review; schedule associated public meetings and oversee the distribution of notices of public meetings and adoptions in accordance with the appropriate Provincial regulations under the directions of the Manager/Director;

What You Bring

The ideal candidate must have knowledge of planning, acquired through a University Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, or related discipline and a full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute, as well as a Registered Professional Planners (RPP) designation.

Additionally, the successful candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience, preferably in a municipal environment.

A satisfactory Driver's Abstract and Criminal Background Check are required for this role.

What We Offer

This non-union, bargaining-exempt position offers a salary commensurate with experience and education (2026 annual salary range of $97,021 - $117,930).
