Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a talented multi-modal Senior Planner to join our team! In this role, you will take on key roles on a diverse range of planning studies for our municipal, regional, and transit clients.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support transit planning projects ranging from designing infrastructure solutions to long-term planning and policy recommendations. More specifically, some examples include data collection and research, mobility hub planning and design, transit system performance analysis, transportation planning, bus rapid transit projects, corridor and regional studies, evaluating alternatives, zero emission fleet transition planning, and policy/guidance documents.
- Lead the writing of technical reports and summary papers, and the development of model output summaries and other technical appendices.
- Define the problem to be studied, establish the scope of work, plan the work, and develop recommendations.
- Support stakeholder and public engagement by developing the plan, the materials and helping facilitate the meetings.
- Collaborate with team members on tasks by providing input, technical guidance, and bringing.
- Build and maintain client relationships and professional networks in the Metro Vancouver area and beyond.
What Required Skills You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Geography, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related field
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Experience working with transit agencies, municipalities, regional districts, DOTs in transit-related planning activities
- Knowledge of software packages typically associated with transportation/transit planning.
- Ability to lead complex tasks
What Desired Skills You'll Bring
- Master's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related field.
- American Institute of Certified Planners Certification (AICP) or equivalent certification preferred but not mandatory.
- Project experience spanning rail, bus, pedestrian, and bicycle planning, ridership modeling, stakeholder engagement, sustainable development, and climate change initiatives.
- Knowledge of GIS and Adobe Illustrator is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge and/or experience with emerging technology (e.g., ITS, Fleet Electrification, ZEB & CAV) and its applications in the transit sector.
- Experience with or knowledge of bus priority applications and Bus Rapid Transit.
- Training and/or experience in public engagement and equity, diversity and inclusion (sometimes referred to equity-centered) planning preferred.
This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.
Salary Range: $118,500 - $220,000
