Full Job Description
An overview of this role

As a Senior People Analytics Analyst, you'll help GitLab use people data to make clear, informed decisions. The People Technology & Analytics Job Family owns the technology and reporting solutions that support GitLab's People team. Working in partnership with the People Leadership team and cross-functional stakeholders, you'll shape and deliver analytics solutions with a data-first mindset, from scalable reporting and advanced statistical analysis to survey strategy and workflow automation.

You don't need extensive GitLab or DevOps knowledge when you join. GitLab's onboarding and training program will provide the context you need to succeed in this role.
What you'll do
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve reporting and dashboard solutions that meet cross-functional business needs.
  • Translate technical outputs into clear visualizations, summaries, and actionable insights for business stakeholders.
  • Write advanced SQL to build, validate, and maintain scalable data models with reusable business logic, and troubleshoot data quality issues.
  • Collaborate with the Data team to manage data pipelines, automate manual workflows, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and scale using artificial intelligence (AI) and other methods.
  • Apply statistical methods, including regression, forecasting, hypothesis testing, and survival analysis, to identify meaningful trends in people data.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for surveys at GitLab, including survey design consultation, platform configuration, implementation, factor analysis, text analysis, trend identification, and results analysis.
  • Own people analytics intake and office hours, helping stakeholders frame business questions, triage requests, and get value from existing reporting solutions.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for data definitions, business rules, analytical methods, and reporting solutions.
What you'll bring
  • Experience in analytics, preferably within People Analytics, Recruiting Analytics, or a closely related function.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including experience building and maintaining analytical data models in large-scale relational databases.
  • Proficiency in R or Python for statistical analysis, data preparation, and workflow automation.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and analyzing team member surveys.
  • Strong data visualization and storytelling skills, with the ability to develop and deliver presentations for senior and executive audiences.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to produce well-organized reference materials.
  • Experience with Workday reporting and data extraction, people systems such as Greenhouse or Culture Amp, or AI experimentation and automation in analytics workflows is helpful but not required.
